Build & Exit... Campaigns? (4)

Build & Exit... Campaigns?

Howdy Stackers!

I think I had a pretty good idea this morning.

I was curious...

Has anyone built a solid campaign, and then sold it?

I mean... people buy and sell websites and internet companies all the time. Essentially each campaign we create is an internet (pseudo) company, right? We have expenses (server costs, advertising, etc) and revenue (affiliate earnings).

Sooooo...... one could conceivably sell a campaign as an internet business, yeah?

Considering businesses often sell for multiples of YEARLY NET between 2x and 14x (low end for online companies but still)... This seems like a pretty good idea.

I'm aware of a GOOROOO who does good work by the name of Ryan Moran (friend of a friend). He's an expert at buying and flipping websites, and has made some courses on how to do it. If we were to build a front-end that made would-be buyers drool on our site, plug in some SEO and social media (optionally), I feel like we could build and exit a campaign for instant insane profits.

Is this viable? Have y'all done it? Or am I trippin' on acid?

LEMME KNOW!

This would only work between people who fully trust each other as no one is stopping you from running the campaign yourself after selling it or just selling it multiple times. What I find interesting though is the idea of profit shares, e.g. affiliate A with a limited bankroll has this kickass campaign that could potentially earn him MILLIONS if he scales NOW, only problem: he doesn't have the cashflow to cover expenses. In comes wealthy affiliate B who commits to paying for the traffic in exchange for xx % of the profits. I think Smaxor briefly mentioned something about this on the forums.

The difference between the multiples that businesses often sell for and what a campaign could sell for is the volatility. It would have to be a really solid offer (with backups) on a stable traffic source with high ROI in a niche that isn't going to disappear tomorrow. It's tough to find those kind of offers in the arbitrage game. And once you've found it, you'd probably want to milk it on your lonesome, no? Unless cashflow is an issue...

I think one of the keys to building a solid campaign is the testing process. Most people who spend enough to test effectively are going to be in a good position to reap the rewards when they come. I'm not sure i understand why anybody would want to sell a campaign once it's reached the point where it's worth x. That's when your hard work is done.

No doubt re: volatility. If you scaled it across a few traffic sources, especially traffic sources that deliver new eyeballs and/or are more direct-response-esque, and built a front end that brought organic traffic, then at that point I feel like it WOULD be a real business and not just a campaign. At least you could position it in the marketplace as such...

What I'm interested in right now isn't long-term cashflow, I am building that with my other businesses in a much, much bigger way than AM could ever touch (ever). But to essentially buff up a camp to the point where it was a real business and sell it on the marketplace as a real business for 700+ days worth of profit? Uhh... "whatup new nest egg? I'm Zeal."

Get me?

Was just curious if it had been done before.

(.....aaaand I think I'm gonna do it. Will let y'all know how it goes once everything is said and done.)
