faceboook sending crap traffic after increasing budget

Today they delivered shitload of clicks in just 5 minutes which costed me over $300,this after doubling my budget on my best converting/highest ctr ad. and i didn't got a single lead from this crap traffic. this has been the case for a while now for me in dating and 1 more niche. i tried switching affiliate networks (scrubbing paranoia), increasing budget slowly and what not.i just cant convert once i really want to scale. Is anyone experiencing the same? any solution for this?

I don't run dating, but I've seen the same thing when turning ads back on later in the day. It makes day-parting a bitch.

NEVER increase your budget during the day. They will always send you shitter traffic that you'll even pay a premium for! The only time I ever increase the budgets is at 12 AM on the account. Remember, Facebook wants to make sure your budget is spread evenly throughout the day, so if you double your budget midday, they will flood you with traffic for 20 minutes to get your delivery up to par to your budget.

12am in which timezone? US/Pacific, where FB is located?

This is pretty interesting, especially since I know that mgrunin knows his shit when it comes to FB. This would explain a lot about the inconsistent results I've been seeing while trying to get some new stuff profitable on FB.

Is there a similar impact on adjusting your ad bid midday too?

thanx mgrunin, i missed to see this thread before. my current campaigns are profitable during 11-7 pm, for rest of the day ROI is very negative. so i pause my ads during non converting period.but i see no conversions for atleast for 1 n half hr after restarting them, though i get good traffic. you reply explains it all.

I've noticed, over the last 6 months, that FB in general gives a shit tonne of empty/useless impressions now. Ads that get a decent CTR and stick start getting delivered thousands of these useless impressions (probably from people flipping through images, not even glancing at advert area, and the irritating advert recycle after about a minute), CTR plummets, CPC goes back up, advert now useless. Makes them volatile day to day as well. IMO this is how Facebook has ruined their platform. They want more impressions to get more eyeballs to ads for brand advertisers but at the same time are destroying the metrics that dictate how much advertising costs. Morons.
