Going Direct with Advertiser Questions

I have an offer I can scale pretty heavily with an upgraded payout, but the payout at every network I find the offer in is the same. A payout bump won't help as it is a low paying offer. I have heard working direct with advertisers is usually net30 terms, which would be fine.

My main question is how do I phrase the e-mail to them? I haven't worked with anyone directly before so I am not quite sure what to say. I also kind of need to ask them what they would be paying out to see if it is worth the time.

Thanks!

not sure how you phrase the email, when i talk to networks or anything i just talk like myself. but one thing you want to show them is the volume you are running at network xyz, you want to give them your subid for that network so they can see how your quality is, this is going to be your hedge against getting the best payout, if quality is there.

I would talk as you are an advertising agency rather than an individual affiliate marketer.

They will care about two factors - the volume and your traffic quality.

If you're going to brand yourself as an agency or whatever, those are the qualities that should be glistening from your business card.

You might also want to tell them that you're currently sending traffic to their rivals - and you're keen to switch.

One thing I would say is that you should avoid developing small fish syndrome. Don't feel as if a large network owes you anything. Don't go begging for a way in to their network. If you are carrying quality traffic and can back it up, they should be bending over to work with you. Of course, you need quality traffic to make the magic happen.

OP - Be wary that even advertisers are late on their net30 pay terms, and there's still a chance to get burned like you could at a network.

Thanks, I never got an e-mail back from them so I sent a quality check through the network instead to see if I could get a bump based on that.

We'll see!

^^ Keep on trying. A network is always going to have to take their own margin. When you talk to advertisers they always hate to hear you moving your traffic over to their competitors. Try get on the phone with them.

you should also remember, sometimes going direct won't always guarantee you the highest payouts. they could start you at a lower payout first to gauge your quality.

e3030 is very true about that, but dont let lower payouts scare you, you going to be direct at the source, so no scrub for the most part and no redirects so your clicks counts are going to be alot more accurate. its def. worth going direct on some offers if your quality is up to par, if its decent or not to good stick to the networks.

Thanks! I guess I can also gauge the quality once the network hears back from the advertiser ;P I'm waiting to see if I can get a significant enough bump from the network. If not, I will try calling the advertiser as per Mr. Green.

Pretty much it goes like this

50% of merchants are happy to work with direct guys if their volume is worth it for them most likely $3-5k+/day

50% of merchants want absolutely nothing to do with direct publishers at all and only want to work with a few networks or even just 1 point of contact at one network. That's why they use networks because they don't want to talk with affiliates.

Just email them and say you have X amount of leads a day and what your ID is with the network your'e working with. They'll look at your quality and guage if it's worth working with you directly. This is a double edged sword though because if the network is sending them a lot of volume besides you then they'll not want to burn the bridge of the network. Also most networks have non-circumvent clauses in their IO's that would allow the network to sue the merchant.

So it's a quandary most likely they'll not take you with no history. But if you say you have history do they deny you for fear of burning one of their partners. All you can do is try.
