I have a dedicated server with 4 Ip slots available. I have my main tracker on my first IP slot, and on my other IP slot i have a few domains and added like 10 more today - all with wordpress type blogs.
Will my main tracker slow down a bit? And if it doesnt do much now, what if I add more websites to my other available IP slots in the future? (I separate them by IP slots since my host gives me a separate cpanel and ftp info for each IP that i use...)
Im a networking/hosting noob so just wondering what you guys suggest. thanks since I dont want to lose any potential conversions if i start adding a bunch of other sites...
bump anyone?
hey vidivo...i'm 99% sure that it doesn't have any effect. so you can add as many domains you like
I don't think you will notice much of a difference unless you are sending a crazy amount of traffic.
If the WordPress blogs have no traffic then it wont make a difference, if they do then it will.
You need to look at your load averages/memory usage, if they're close to peaking you'll need to upgrade your hosting/switch asap.
I learnt the hard way. 50 WordPress blogs. 1 with over a million posts sitting dormant for a while.
All going good until I started getting over 1000 uniques a day, then all of a sudden it started eating up all the server resources.
snipe / mr baffoe are right on the money here, you should be fine most likely. Just keep a close eye on it if you start to send some crazy volume.
