Invoicing Networks (12)

Invoicing Networks

Hey guys,

I've been running low $X,XXX traffic to a new network and they're asking me if I'm planning on invoicing them for my commissions. I've only worked with networks where the invoices were automatically generated on the network's end and they simply wired me my money each week.

What are the advantages of formally invoicing them? Does anyone do it?

Thanks a ton!
ATG

If you're working with a network that has their stuff together, there's no reason that you as the affiliate should invoice them. You're going off of their stats anyway I'd presume, in which case, an invoice to them wont be anything you do not have.

If you have to do this, I can give you a basic invoice template.

Silly though... lol

That's what I thought but I wasn't sure if I was missing something.

Thanks Phil!

I love when our affiliates invoice us, shows me that they mean business and know what they are doing. Plus it will put you in a good habit and clean up your books.

gametheory requries invoices, alot of advertisers if you work with them directly want invoices to , i think its professional to send those in anyways. A easy way to send invoices is setup a free account with freshbooks.com and your good to go.

Yeah I agree invoices are great even though we as networks show your stats it is more professional and make sure that you get timely payments because your invoice move you to the front of accountings mind

If a network requires invoices, I think of a few possibilities:

1. They're trying to bank on people who forget about them, small time earners who can't be bothered, guys who can't figure out why they weren't paid but don't bother to look into it, etc. This is all the responsibility of the affiliate obviously, but I'd rather have a proactively paying network than a reactively paying network.

2. The network's accounting is not in order. Their backend is not as developed as it should be, they're disorganized, scattered, their data is all over the place or unreliable, etc.

3. They see a tax purpose in having evidenced 'invoices' from customers. This is fine so long as they aren't doing anything sketchy in their filings.

I ALWAYS make invoices for the affiliate networks.
Every weeks, I create an invoice for each affiliate networks, but I never send these invoices to them because most of the time, they don't need it.
But my accountant has to get these invoices so he can report the taxes properly at the end of each quarters.

As I said in this thread: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread.php?7286-Invoices, I don't know how companies and legal stuff work in your countries but you should always have an invoice for each of your inputs AND outputs.

Whenever your money comes in or comes out, you should have an invoice to justify that.

Invoices are needed at times, depends on the country as well. In the Netherlands, Dutch pubs must invoice in order to get paid, even though they still go off the stats in the system.

Is invoicing only necessary for INTL affiliates running in certain countries then? ^

You only need to invoice in Europe if you do business with a network that is in your that you are incorporated in. A big reason many dutch pubs incorporate elsewhere, to avoid VAT.
