When you create banners (300*250)....what do you guys think is the best way. I know that at the end the result is the same, but:
1. Take a pic of a hot girl, and build all kind of banners around that pic. Once you found the best kind of banner. Build more with other pics.
or
2. Pick one kind of banner and test it with 20 different girls. Once you found the best girl....make all kinds of banners.
Just create as many as you would like and split test. What might work for one persons niche my not work for yours so its always best to test to see what and doesnt work in your specific market.

1) 3 different totally different styles...test
2) winner from above test with different girls ....test
3) winner from above test with 3 dif copy...test
at the end you should know the type of girls you need and the message you need to send with the layout that works best
then use that as your control
and repeat steps 1-3 with 20% off your traffic (the rest goes to the banner/banners that are working)

I use basic effects in photoshop for almost all my banners (gradient, stroke, etc). The simpler, the uglier, the more noticeable.
