PPV all adware? (8)

PPV all adware?

Never done any PPV but everything I read about it says its just adware so anytime you advertise on a network your essentially only advertising to infected computers.

Is this true? Has this changed at all? Seems with newer computers and its not the windows xp and 98 days where it was super super easy to infect computers and with the rise of Mac that this number would keep going down? Ami I wrong on that assumption?

thank you

Hey there! I'm pretty new myself, so I may be off base, but I'm pretty sure the traffic is from users who opt to install a toolbar, so it's all user allowed traffic. This is not spyware traffic.

I know toolbar stuff is one way as well. What toolbars usually are hooked up with PPV networks? I know many adware infections will also install a toolbar to.

with more sandboxed browsers like the new ie9/10 and safari / chrome and with mobile and tablet browsers, I don't see PPV in a good position if this is the only way PPV works from a publishing perspective.

Would love to know more here.

Talking about Leadimpact, IE is the required browser to install the adware software like Kangoobox (in fact a toolbar isn't the only way to create a new PPV "victim")

This is the browser's stat of last 500 visitors to a landing page of mine (PPV traffic)
As you can see IE9 is the most used at the moment.

Hey, PPV is not my thing but there are pops attached to websites if thats what you're thinking. The big ppv networks are adware based certainly, but many websites serve a pop up or pop under on page load and you buy this space from normal display ad networks and site owners themselves. It's a site placement as opposed to bidding on URLs on adware affected machines.

Hope that helps

Just curious with browser diversity how long this will hold out for.
