Hi everyone,
I saw a thread about emailing and I taught i'd share a technic I used in the past to clean up databases of millions of emails.
I used to have an adult ad network on the french market, and we were sending 5 millions emails/day, so maintaining a low level of hard bounces was critical.
What i used to do is outsource the cleaning to some companies in senegal (you can use philippines, or else ..) for very cheap, and ask them to :
- select each email and search for it on Facebook
- if it gives a profile it's good if it doesn't mark it "critical"
And that was it, a huge improve on my bounces and more generally my emailing performance
One can argue that we might miss some real people that aren't on Facebook, well, they now have 950M active users and it's only growing, and like they say, "data is king, talk is cheap" , this technic made me more money than when i wasn't using it !
Cheers,
Mehdi
How much did you pay for cleaning - say per say 1000 emails?
The cost was around 2-3$ per 1000 emails, we paid hourly but we automated the whole process (auto-next, auto-email filling, quick tag buttons, .. ) so they used to go through a lot of email per hour.
@Sntr > yes there's also services like that and datavalidation.com but i've never used them so i can't speak for that. Also there was no such service on the french market, so we had to do we the little tools we had ^^

verify-email.org is market proof.
it connects to domain's mail servers and using server language "asks" if given email address exists on a given domain.
Are these opt-in lists or not?
this is what i used before -> http://email-verify.my-addr.com/bulk...nline-tool.php
super cheap solution...
ranges from $0.5 to $0.1 per 1000 emails (depending on quantity)
as for results, this is what you see:
- ok - email address exist and correct
- fail - email address not exist
- unknown - can't verify this email (you do not pay for it)
Just tried these guys the other day >> http://www.briteverify.com
If you make an inquiry they'll run 5000 for you to test it out. It's .01/matched email.
Just curious, why is it bad to have a high level of bounces?
mailing is an art - it's abstract for most
hard to learn & master
