FB vs POF vs Else - 2012 PPD Campaigns (10)

FB vs POF vs Else - 2012 PPD Campaigns

Here I stand, at a critical crossroads...

To my left, a road upon which Facebook has dangled promises of untold, evergreen riches with my Pay Per Download campaigns, guarded by a looming 12 foot demon fucker known as FB Ad Approval.

To my right, the less traveled road, completely barren except for a post upon which POF has nailed a sign that reads "Wanted: Brave adventurers for non-dating campaigns. You will probably not survive. Should you fail, no one will know your struggle and your name will sink into the abyss of the unknown, to join the hundreds of lost souls who have tried and failed before you. Slim chance of getting really, really rich and getting that Fisker Karma you've been wanting."

And then somewhere off out of my current field of vision lies CPV and media buys and stuff.

My question is the obvious one...

Which road do I travel?

I'm the kind of guy who gets to walking and doesn't turn back... so I have my reservations about both honestly.

Facebook is a saucy wench... If I were able to get my ads approved and learn to navigate FB, I could literally spin creatives off all day long targeting millions and millions of peeps (on their BIRTHDAYS no less, yee) by interests that I KNOW I could make work for 50-100%+ ROI for months and months and months. However that looming demon fucker is pretty intimidating considering my main account is already banned from fb ads for my seminar company that weren't even "black hat" and I'd have to learn about "cloaking" and getting a new ip to login from and whatever else I don't even know, because the campaigns I want to run are straight up against FB TOS.

Which leaves me with POF... whom I'm sure could be made to spit out money like a broken ATM... I'm just unsure of the learning curve. I have an angle I think will do pretty well for one particular PPD offer, however that's just ONE offer... not to mention I'm unsure of the targeting and just generally don't have confidence in POF as a platform due to my lack of knowledge about it.

The idea of making winning birthday campaigns for PPD offers targeting millions if not tens of millions of users sounds really really exciting because it could run for AT LEAST a year (AT LEAST).... but the fact is I would be straight up going against FB TOS and really don't know much about navigating that.

However the foreignness of POF seems pretty rough as well, especially considering I don't know nothin' about POF except for what I've read here, in the forum and on the blog.

Honestly at this point I'd be willing to pay for coaching or do a trade from someone banking hard ($1k+/days average) to answer some questions and get me going in the right direction, however I'd love to get some feedback from the entire forum as I know I'm not the only person looking to move to a bigger, badder traffic source and I'm sure this post could benefit everyone looking to jump in to non-dating offers on one of these platforms.

TLDR:
Facebook or POF for PPD offers if the person has some familiarity with FB ads but no idea how to get past FB ad approval (and stay past them), and absolutely ZERO familiarity with POF... and why?

What do you think?

Oh and I should mention...

1. I have a pretty good eye for creatives, am a quick learner, a quicker implementer, could code my way out of a snowstorm, and am completely proficient in basically every mainstream application (CS, Flash, Office, whatever).

2. "I don't care what it costs" although ideally I will see some kind of return before I go dropping thousands... Though my intention is to go broad on both of these platforms.

Facebook - hands down!

You will do way bigger numbers on Facebook a lot quicker than POF. Plus for non-dating it's much better. Of course, master both in the end and you will diversify your earnings.

Yes, FB ad approval is a massive frustration but there is no perfect traffic source. If you have a long term relationship with Facebook you will eventually get your account banned - expect this to happen. If it doesn't then that's a pleasant surprise.

But with this forum at hand, you are better tooled than anyone else, to learn how to make multiple accounts and keep running them (I think it was PolarBacon who did an excellent thread on this) so bans or disapprovals shouldn't set you back too much.

Appreciate the input boss!

Though, after some talks with Maynzie, it is decided... I am going MOBILE and I'm not looking back.

If you're not gonna stop till you slay a beast, you might as well slay the biggest, baddest, juiciest bugger you can find.

ALRIGHT THUMBS UP LET'S DO THIS........

Yeah you kinda had to be playing World of Warcraft six years ago for that to even be remotely relevant. Ah well.

It's good to be as motivated as you seem to be !

Mobile is definitely the new big game, if you can get that to work you're definitely looking at some good return

Best of luck.

No doubt thanks boss!

While I'm waiting for Marty from Neverblue or Maynzie to get on skype to answer some of my n00b mobile questions, I'm scaling a profitable campaign from Adcenter PPC to CPV (LI).

I have a question that I haven't been able to make forum search nor Google answer for the life of me though...

How do I track keyword/URL from LI in propser?

I thought I saw some dynamic code you can put on the end of LI URLs to track URL and keyword, but I can't find it anywhere now... Doh!

Got it - %KEYWORD% variable with keyword pass through turned off.

Is there any way to track the URL that popped the page if you're bidding on keywords, e.g. %URL%?
