Local marketing on the content network?

Anyone here had any experience promoting local biz on the content network? I am running an AdWords campaign for my day job (we provide B2B services - not IM related) which is getting some results but the search volume is fairly low.

I would like to try running ads on the content network. It will be geo-targeted to people from my city so what is the best approach? Manage the placements myself? Seems like targeting just by related keywords will be very limited.

I have run a few in the past and the best results I had were when I took the "keyword + 'city name(s)" or "city name(s) + keyword" and ran my ads that way. That said, the volume was very low but it did provide around 5 leads a month in a B2C market.

I would suggest running a media campaign instead.

For instance, take the local paper (online version) and run the ads there or on some other local news or entertainment site.

Good luck!
