lifetweak's Wild West Follow Along Contest - Rebills on Adult Traffic

Hey there fellas, hope you're doing well!

Its been a while since I posted here...and we're getting pretty close to end of the follow along contest...so here's my entry. I'm late to the party, but I'll try to cover as much as I can in the next few days.

Skincare on Adult Traffic

Goal: People jerk off to porn, feel bad about themselves and fear that the habit might ruin their health. Now, the goal is to see if we can feed on their fear and make them buy stuff.

I was curious, so I did a few searches and found people asking weird questions like if frequent masturbation caused colon inflammation (wtf?), fatigue, weight loss...but the most prevalent one was whether masturbation caused dark circles. So that's the niche we're going to tap into!

This could turn out to be a huge campaign since people are programmed to feel guilty about fapping the living shit out of them every night. And there's so much adult traffic out there...I can spend $xx,xxx/day if one of my funnels work.

Traffic Source: Of all the adult networks, I'm most familiar with Exoclick. So, lets roll with it.

My favorite placement there for testing offers is Xhamster.com ...the CPMs are high, but the quality has been way better than other sites. But the one problem we might face is our campaign losing steam after a few weeks since they have the same users visiting their site everyday. If you want longevity, go after sites that have a lot of search traffic. Fresh eyeballs everyday = $$$. But all that aside, Xhamster is still a good placement to go with.

Countries: US & Canada for now

For tracking I'm gonna use Prosper...I have it on Beyond Hosting...and its supposed to handle big volume.

Offers: Loads of Skincare offers out there. A quick look at NB shows me they have more than 10. Since we're dealing with dark circles, lets pick something that addresses the issue. Let's have the others as backup.

Hydrolyze Revitalizing Treatment (US) pays $33.75/trial and according to my AM it seems to be doing okay across the board:

Now, let's look at our ads:

I will be testing different types of ads...like the cartoon ones we see all the time, and a news style ad, etc. But lets just go with these simple ones and see if we can get a feel of the angle without breaking the bank with a crap ton of creatives.

Now to the landing pages:

1) First let's do a simple survey kind of a lander to check if our demo is responding to our masturbation-darkcircles angle or if we're just imagining things

2) Unique risk-free trial deal for Xhamster users only

3) Flog

4) News report style lander

We know the offer is decent and the traffic source is good...at the end of our tests we'll know if porn visitors (known for their poor attention spans) are really upset enough about their dark circles to whip out their credit card.

Now, since these are rebill offers we're going to be dealing with, it is best if we play it safe. So I'm gonna pay attention to the disclaimer, t&c, etc on my lander, and I'm not gonna openly claim that masturbation causes dark circles.

Below is a screenshot of the survey lander we're going to start with:

After the user answers the questions, he's directed to a page where I tell him people have been using Hydrolyze for dark circles, and he has the option of getting a risk-free trial pack. Pretty simple, now lets see how the traffic responds.

If you have questions, ask away! If you've run skincare before and you have some advice for me, I'm all ears!

Peace my brothers.

Update:

Sent 515 clicks to the lander above, and I'm surprised at the number of people who've answered the questions

Here's the text file I used to log the answers along with my subids...

Its good to know that about 55% of the folks who hit the lander, answered the questions to proceed to the next page. Seems like the niche has got some potential But, they don't seem to like it when I say the below on the next page lol :

Screenshots from NB:

Campaign Stats:

230k impressions
0.36 CPM
~0.20 ad CTR

$85 spent
$0 made
ROI -100%

To do next: Improve ad CTR, try out other types of landers now that we know our audience is responding. Stay tuned.

Awesome folllow along! Excited to see the outcome of this traffic / offer combo. Haven't seen any skin care on adult sites before but i rarely look at the ads on those sites.. Good luck man!

just a word of caution on this.....I would tell my AM where this traffic is coming from...there may be an adult restriction on these offers.....

hate to see you not get paid

if you get them in an email to sign off on it....

have at it....

Thoughts - http://www.askmen.com/dating/love_ti...turbation.html

I am thinking the lp of the offer may have something to do with why it doesn't convert. Just seems female targeted.

@pain2k
I had the same feeling once with another niche, and was testing a female targeted landing page which converted very well with a 100% male targeted traffic! Always test

@tweak
I think you have an interesting twisted angle here, BUT i would suggest trying to match it with a different vertical. Perhaps weight gain, or hair loss may be better attributes for males rather then nice skin

lol... would have never thought to pitch dark eye cream on PORN sites to men.

talk about thinking outside the box.

for me there's a disconnect... you're pitching a report.... but when the user finishes the survey... there's just a pitch.

To me, thats a bit deceptive... and that might be why it's not working.

What if you hired a writer to write up a review/report on how to fix dark eye circles.... and why this product is the best.... then just add the link to the survey completion page WITH what you've already got?

They get a pdf that sits on their computer... and gives you more chances to get sales vs the 1 hit.

Thanks guys for your inputs!

Yes, there seems to be a disconnect...

Last night I tried another lander which says something like...'In a recent poll, we learned that 78% of our visitors are concerned about dark circles. So we've secured a special deal blah blah ..' the LP CTR was about 10%, but still no conversions.

If I'm going to continue using the lander with the questions, I guess the best way to go about it would be to do what dconstrukt mentioned above - Hiring someone to put together a small report. Or maybe collect their email address and send them tips...

But since we just have a couple of days before the contest ends, I've decided to shelve the pdf plan for next week and work on something that I can do right away.

Next on list -

1) Switch to weight gain products and tie it to masturbation.

2) Finish the flog & new style lander tests for dark circles - just to make sure we complete what we initially had in mind for the testing phase.

I'll post some stats and screenshots once the traffic flows in

Add the following code to the second page...just make sure its a php file:

Code:
<?
session_start();
$t202subid=$_COOKIE['tracking202subid'];
$q1 = $_GET['q1']; // extract variables from URL and assign value
$q2 = $_GET['q2'];
$q3 = $_GET['q3'];
$q4 = $_GET['q4'];
	if($q1!=""){
	$myFile = "answers.txt";
	$fh = fopen($myFile, 'a') or die("can't open file");
	$stringData = $q1." -- ".$q2." -- ".$q3." -- ".$q4." -- ".$t202subid."\n";
	fwrite($fh, $stringData);
	fclose($fh);
}
?>
I jacked it from Besmir's coreg thread, very useful
