Ok so since I was late for all the mastermind groups I figured I'll put some follow along ...
After some quick research and a few chats with my fav AMs I found an interesting offer
Offer: Movie Extras lead gen (accepts US all)
Network: Moolah Media
I asked them if I can do a follow along here on STM and got approved to do that.
This is their offer.
So after a quick chat with my AM she gave me some insights that Geo-lander performs best so far so I'll start from there. I can't share my payout .....
Edit: we agreed with my AM i can share $0.95 payout on this particular lander/offer.
.... but it's one of these $0.70-low$1.xx payout type of offers. Payout also varies depending which version of their lander is being used.

I chose this offer for a follow along because I kinda have a feeling this is something different.
Ok, so after some more chat I got a list of top performing carriers, I chose top 4 from the list and set 4 camps on LeadBolt for a start, all text:
001:
Title: Make up to $300 per day in a FUN way!
Subtitle: Become a Movie Extra and get cool after hours job on a movie set!
Description: Tap here and get on a list today
002:
Title: You could make $300/day as a Movie Extra
Subtitle: It's fun and easy and you could work on an actual movie set!
Description: Tap here and leave us your contact info today!
003:
Title: Ever dream of being in a movie?
Subtitle: Now here's your chance!
Description: Tap here for details...
004:
Title: (14) movie extras needed ASAP!
Subtitle: We pay up to $300 per day
Description: Tap here now and enter your contact information
I set $100 budget on every camp ($400 total), bidding minimum 0.10, targeting all devices, chosen carriers and all categories.
Also I figured since I'm bidding CPC and don't use any lander I'll try to presale it straight for max CVR.
At this time I'm direct linking since Moolah has some good reporting tool their side, I'm just passing category-id and camp-id from Leadbolt; carrier, device make and model I will just get from Moolah's reports. Maybe later I'll put some tracker in the middle if needed.
I'm not counting I'm gonna be even close to break even at this time, I just want to get a better feeling of the offer, I never ran it before. I chose LB because of easy and fast approvals, converting traffic, not much click discrepancies, and text ads (quick to set).
Goal for this follow along is $500+ a day across 2, max 3 traffic sources so it's easy to manage and a good starting point for some other ideas/camps. I also have kinda limited time since next Thursday I'm going to hospital for a surgery and from what I already know I'll be pretty much drugged for whole 7 days after it.
Game started, wish me luck!
cheers,
szymon
Excited to see this

!
Best of Luck szymon
Nice offer this converts like fire.
oh c'mon let's get you ppl involved a bit more here...
the poll: Which ad you think did best CVR wise?
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...xtras-Poll-1.1
vote!
Good offer, good straight forward ads! Only thing i'll recommend off the bat to split test is using actor names/music videos and tv shows alongside movies
Also embed that screencast image into the thread!
admins - i made a poll thread like 15 minutes ago and it disappeared...
Edit: i just created another poll thread. Last (which disappeared) was " .... Poll #1"
Nice thread sntr!
ok so because i'm one lazy mofo we figured with my AM we can agree on $0.95 payout to be revealed.
I just wanted to paste some images instead of pure text calulations, but it was hard having secret payout.
Stats soon, .. promising shit
Really looking forward to this, should be awesome!
ok so before i'll reveal my stats i wanted to make a lander.. but my coder is out for vacays now so ..
PPL I have an ask for ya, anyone here could make me a simple lander based on an offer page?? I will pay for it.
so stats later, my wifey just left the city so i'm gonna allow UFO to take me to the galaxy far far away!
k fellows, i'm pretty much done here, i did 1.5k today with almost any optimization, i will ofcourse publish my stats and shit... anyways it was all LeadBolt...
so I was just talking to Rob from TapIt, maybe I should go there? Rob and Justin are good ppl. Or maybe Human Demand? Normally they don't work for me (no traffic) but maybe for the sake of this case study..
Let me know guys where you'd like me to scale this camp.
You did 1.5k profit? or revenue? -- break it down for us so we can see
Scale everywhere. Rob and Justin from Jumptap are great, so move it there first, they'll help you out
$1.5k revenue? So if you are using LB is it incentive traffic you are sending to the offer?
Hahah that owns, fastest goal reaching in a follow along I've seen if out of that 1500 you've got 500 profit (which I'm assuming going from your 100/day budget). Well done man!
eh tomorrow i'll put some shit up for you guys, sorry.. i just got back home and it's already 11 am and i have another party planned for today; my best friend is a concierge, he's doing some shit tonight.
Edit: concierge usually knows best shit in town
twas a rev, 1.5k rev. Don't be so excited, it will die in few days knowing leadbolt... i can already tell few guys from here copied this bitch, but i'm one step further you copycat mofos!
still looking for the coder, anyone?
i also have an idea how to make this thread exciting again... i wanted to make some noob stuff for noobs to take them from here but this one went too good. noobs - Normally it isn't like that, ya have to tweak things.
@dalhaze straight to the offer, wtf. keep it simple man.
@Hanna no profit, break even. But it's really easy to turn it profit from here... it's just boring
better idea is not to optimize but make this shiat $3k rev on the same spend.
Ok fellows, sorry I didn't update in a while, .. since the camp has been copied by everyone and their brother after I posted my „success” last time I figured I'd better run it quietly and then publish results.
Now at a start I'd like to make a clarification that I actually confused camps when I posted I did $1.5k rev on it. I did spent around $1.5k on it that day but actually made ~30% less.. more on it later. Sorry.
Day 1: Last Monday (when Wild West started).
I did an opening post about how I set the camp, I didn't publish the stats.
So, as I mentioned I was purely direct linking to Moolah, and since Moolah and LeadBolt reports are in the same timezone it makes it very easy to track. Also Moolah has some more advanced reporting features for mobile so.. for a start this is enough, IMO. I didn't set any tracking postbacks, pixels, whatever.. just kept things simple.
So I set all 4 camps around noon or early afternoon PST, set budget on all camps to $100. Camps 001 and 003 got approved right of the bat so I set them run and went to bed (it was night at mine).
After I woke up...
Spend stats from LeadBolt:

Rev stats from Moolah:
Ok so since I didn't test all 4 creatives at this time because only two of them got approved, I figured the only thing that is interesting to me right now are stats grouped by carrier.
My rep from Moolah gave me some insights which carriers work best for this offer network-wide, so I started with 4 carriers:

So as you can see I was targeting Sprint, Cricket, ATT and Metro. The rest is just noise from LB. This data clearly shows that Cricket and Metro have best conversion rates, so I decided I will limit myself to only those two carriers during the testing phase.
So far:
Spend: $200
Revenue: $70
Profit: -$130
In the mean time the rest of camps got approved.
Day 2: Last Tuesday (the day I did mistake of exciting some of you too much)
All 4 camps were approved so I kept the budget $100 per campaign, but I limited each camp to run only on Cricket and Metro. I ran them all at once, I wanted statistically significant data.
I started and left home. After few hours when I got back I noticed it ate all budgets on all camps and that I'm actually breaking even, so I set budget to $400 on all camps and let it run to get more data. My wifey and kid left the city so I went down town (of despair)... then I was checking stats at friend's from his computer and this is when I actually messed it up a little. We were all drunk a bit
(still out of despair).
Spend stats from LB:

Rev stats from Moolah:
by Carrier:

Ok so clearly after initial break even it started to loose at some point.
time to get dirty, data by [CAT_ID] and [CAMP_ID]:

uhhh it doesn't look very readable, does it? Time to export it to Google Spreadsheet and make Pivot Table.. and the result..
1st I wanted to see which camp performs best:

ok good, camp 65140 did best. From the spend stats from LB I can see this is creative 004 and it also won CTR-wise. Great, not only it backs out best for me, but also for LB.
Now, I wanted to see if I can narrow this bitch down by category:

Hmm doesn't look like.. all volume categories are about the same, maybe category 37 is doing a bit better, but nothing crazy. All categories' EPCs are below CPC I pay.
Let me do another magic and see what this data looks like when filtered only to the winning creative 004:

Still no clear winner, except 37 is slightly above CPC, but nothing crazy.. given there is some click loss it's still a looser.
Ok so maybe there are at least some winning devices?

hmm again, nothing crazy. Also for some reason narrowing down by device in LB never worked good for me. Maybe some of you have some other experience in this field?
Ok so basically no way to optimize by narrowing down.. Sounds familiar, huh?
This day stats:
Spend: $1540
Revenue: $1095
Profit: -$445
So far (including day 1):
Spend: $1740
Revenue: $1165
Profit: -$575
It's not that bad. I found a winning creative that is near break even, I got to know I can scale this up to $1.5k a day in spend on only one traffic source. So, basically, a little change can get me profitable, and on $1.5k spend only 30% ROI is a few hundred profit.
I have an idea for a lander, but my coder is out for vacays. I asked some of you guys but noone wanted to do the job so....
Day 3: this Monday
I just kept things paused for all week. I had some better things to do.
So noone wanted to do the lander for me, and my coder is still having vacays (lucky bastard) I figured I'll stop crying like a little girl and do the job myself. I'm far from web designer and I'm lazy as fuck so I decided to just rip off the offer lander, put it in notepad++ and see what I can do. After all it didn't go that bad.
The whole idea is to better engage the user and make him/her feel special because his/her profile is interesting to „us”.

and the next step is offer.
In LB I just duplicated the camp „Movie Extras 004” to „Movie Extras 004.1”, as a target URL I set it straight to the index.php of this beautiful lander that I installed on my server. The last button of the lander is just my pure affiliate link to Moolah. I don't track any LeadBolt variables at this time, since analyzis of Day 2 showed there is nothing special there to optimize by, I want to track some of the answers though, just out of curiosity
I changed the ad copy a bit:

I set the budget to $100 to see if everything works.
Waiting for approval....
In the mean time I started scaling this camp to other traffic sources.
Day 4: this Tuesday (yesterday)
Ok so camp got approved and I started it. After a while I came back to see if everything is fine. It almost ate all $100, but data was good in Moolah so I just took off the daily budget and set it to unlimited, put like $2k in my LB account and let it go.
Spend stats from LB:

Now Moolah stats - sorry this way but I have real mess in there and don't want to reveal my other traffic sources at this time.
Revenue: $918.65
lp to offer CVR: 74.04%
Total Clicks registered at Moolah: 1380
so I can calculate LP CTR: ~18%
Day 4 stats:
Spend: $725
Revenue: $920
Profit: $195
So far (from the beginning):
Spend: $2465
Revenue: $2085
Profit: -$380
I have it also profitable on another traffic source, and another source is looking promising already. Sorry, not gonna reveal those two, I want to juice it for some time. I already revealed good info. I only can say that I am already profitable in mid $xxx counting all spendings on this camp since the start.
Also, my gut feeling tells me I didn't optimize lander enough (speed), also most of the times call to action buttons are below the fold. I just wanted to see how much difference it will make to prepare the user for the signup vs. direct linking.
I need to finish this follow along at this stage because I need to prepare myself for tomorrow's surgery.
I wanted to make it a bit more entertainy from the begining by using polls but I guess that's not something you guys look into.
If you have any questions I may answer them next week when I'm back home.
Ah, copycats, feel free.. I already have another idea for this camp.
Great job Szy
Excellent job on getting this campaign profitable mate !
And best of luck for your surgery, hope it all goes well !!!
Mehdi
Great follow along here Szy...and best wishes for the surgery!
Excellent follow along, gave me a nice campaign idea im working on now
Awesome follow along, very good write up and good to see the lp makes A positive change. Good luck with the surgery.
Aw man, after reading this follow-along, it finally hit me how I should approach things. Thanks, I hope you're turning this into pure gold!
Brilliant follow along mate. Good job for getting off your ass, and grinding out a smart path like that. Props to you!
this is some g work man, props on the campaign. make $, screw the haters
sntr, great campaign! what software did you use for creating the landing pages?
bloody beast lol! this is sick!
good stuff !
great landing page. are you using jquery mobile for those question to question type changes? i was trying to figure out how to customize that shit, but was really confusing.. i just started making my own fluid layouts on mobile, but shit.. im sure that pre qualifying question stuff converts way better....
@wilebert - I just ripped off the offer lander and edited it. From what I remember it was not based on jquery.
