My first $200 profit day and other stuff (35)

My first $200 profit day and other stuff

I love reading success stories! It's a guilty pleasure of mine but I also find them very motivating. I truly enjoy reading about someone that is now making $5k or $10k a day or more. It's nice to know that it is an attainable goal and that I can one day get there too . While I have never had a 4 or 5 figure day (yet) I did have my best day ever yesterday and thought it may be a good time to share some of my accomplishments over the last few months.

I have been at this for 6 months now and hit my first $100 profit day about 4 months ago. It took me a while to do it again but I have been consistently doing $50-$100+ profit days over the last couple months. Yesterday I was able to check off a new milestone on my way to $1k/day, I did over $200 in profit ($234.24 to be exact). It was also the first time I hit $500 in total revenue. It felt great to know that I've raised the bar a bit and have a new 'best day' to try and beat.

In addition to setting a new high, I have taken a few other steps recently toward one day going full time in AM. Last month I set up an LLC and opened a business checking account. While this is not necessarily an accomplishment I feel that it is an important step in my journey to making this my full time job. Opening a separate business account was important for me because I was previously working out of my personal account. This will help to keep me from spending all my profits and actually build up some cash. I would look back at my total profit for the month and wonder where the hell it went. If it's in my personal account I just end up spending it. Plus, it's just a good idea to keep things separate.

Finally, I am meeting with my accountant very soon to discuss how the LLC should be taxed (S Corp or Sole Proprietor) and set up quarterly filings. I also spent the last few days setting up Quickbooks and entering the last 6 months numbers. No more tracking my finances in Excel. I hope that I am back here soon writing about my first $1k day and am able to keep making progress towards my goal of going full time.

Thanks to all the STM members who make this forum such a great resource and a fun place. And especially to all the members who have taken the extra time to help me out and offer advice along the way.

nice one!

Good to see you getting the business side of things sorted as well.

Whats the single biggest factor thats contributed to your success sofar? Like if you could bottle your success factors and sell it to affiliates as a rebil ...what would the magic ingredient of the pill be?

Congrats! Plan out a set of next steps you will do to hit that $1k a day, it'll help you get there faster if you actually have a specific list of things to knock off and try to attain your goal

Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the kind words and encouragement.

BTW was it all FB or pof ?
It was almost all dating on FB. I still dabble in POF now and then but I have been focusing on PPV as my new traffic source.

It may sound cliche but I think the biggest factor that has contributed to my success has been an absolute determination to succeed. I can honestly say that, over the last 6 months, I have never once even considered quitting. I have never wondered if I would meet my goal only when.

The flip side to that, the biggest obstacle I've had to overcome, has been staying focused. By that I mean I had to stop jumping around to different traffic sources and niches. I found myself jumping from FB to POF to mobile to PPV to Pulse360 and trying every new offer that popped up on the network. You have to pick something, set some goals and stick with it.

I will also say, you can only sit and read so much. You will learn 10x more if you throw down some money and jump in. You certainly won't make any money sitting on the sidelines reading about it.

Congrats! Plan out a set of next steps you will do to hit that $1k a day, it'll help you get there faster if you actually have a specific list of things to knock off and try to attain your goal
Great advice! Setting goals and sticking to them has worked for me so far and I'll keep doing it. I remember when I set a goal to make at least $50 a day. My next big goal that I've been focusing on has been to learn a new traffic source. I picked PPV and have been working on getting a profitable campaign going on LI. I recently joined the PPV mastermind group that was started by Boomachucka. Also, you will be seeing a PPV follow along from me for the new STM contest .

@jmgraff - what's up buckeye? I hope you're still killing it on POF!

Hey man. Just want to say congratulations! You're an example to all of us, because I see you on here, all of the time. I know you're always grinding away, never giving up. You show that persistence prevails. Always!

You can't fail if you never give up.

Good to see you are also setting yourself up well in terms of tracking your finances - that's a lesson to everyone. It's never too soon to start getting your finances in order and start creating a solid accounting history for your biz. Even if it's $500 per month, it breeds good habits that will help you later on.

Keep rocking man. Stay positive. If you ever doubt yourself, look back at this thread. You can do $1k, no problem.

Thanks moonshine, I hope that others can find motivation in this post the same way that I have been motivated by others. I love reading about people that have achieved $xx,xxx days, it tells me that it really is possible and I can do it too.

I noticed that you said
posts like these encourage me to get starting.
If you're just starting out then this is the best advice I can possibly give you:

You will learn 10x more if you throw down some money and jump in. You certainly won't make any money sitting on the sidelines reading about it.
I know it sounds obvious but it couldn't be more true. Don't be afraid to lose some money. You're not really 'losing' it if you learn something from it.

Thank you for your reply and advice Aaron!

"You will learn 10x more if you throw down some money and jump in. You certainly won't make any money sitting on the sidelines reading about it."

I totally agree, I've got a budget of $10k - but before I spend any money - I'd like to analyse the given information on this forum intensively first, for about 1-2 weeks. That should prevent me from making stupid mistakes that could costs me a lot of money, don't you agree?

Aside from that advice, what would be the next best advice that you could give to a newbie? I have dilemmas - like where to start first, PoF vs PPV (LeadImpact).

Spy + Improve = Good Results
or
Reinventing the Wheel = Good Results ?

There's nothing wrong with reading and trying to learn from other's experiences. You just need to be careful that you don't get stuck reading/planning and never actually take action. There's a ton of great information here and it's a great place for a beginner to learn the fundamentals of setting up and maintaining/optimizing a campaign. But, I think you get even more out of this forum if you're actively testing ideas and use the members here as a resource to answer the questions that will come up along the way.

Picking a vertical and traffic source can be one of the most difficult things when you're starting out, in my opinion. There are so many options and then you sit and read about how great someone is doing in mobile or FB or POF or PPV etc. There is no easy answer here. They all work and you just have to pick something that you think will suit you. But, once you pick something, stick with it for a while and really try to make it work. I can say from experience that if you jump around to different traffic sources you will not learn as much and it will take you that much longer to hit a successful campaign.

I have seen some debate on this as to which is the best way for a beginner to approach a campaign. Some will say that you are not yet tainted and have the ability to really think outside the box and be original. This can lead to very profitable and lasting campaigns. The down side is that it can take a very long time to get there. On the other hand, the spy/improve method will definitely get you up and running faster. But the down side is that you will probably be running the same regurgitated crap as everyone else. Your best bet is probably to try and do a little of both.

These are just my thoughts on some of your questions. I am still a total noob so please take my advice with a grain of salt. I still have a lot to learn and am nowhere near as experienced as many of the other members here.

The one thing I can tell you with absolute confidence is this: start a follow along! There are many people here that will help you and know a hell of a lot more than I do. You will learn a ton from it but you need to take the initiative and start it.

Decided to read all of the success stories in hopes to find a similarities between the posters. Since you are still an active member here, I'm curious to know what you're focusing on now in 2015. Are you doing way better now than you were in 2012? Thanks again for sharing your success. Newbies like me love to read this stuff especially during the frst few weeks to help them get through the tough times.
