I'm setting up a site that will accept credit cards and I'm looking for alternatives to setting up my own merchant accounts (nightmare for me).
I'd like the checkout page to be on my site, not on a third party. I've considered PayPal but they have a habit of being a little hard to work with at times, freezing accounts etc.
Has anyone used WePay? http://wepay.com or other alternatives?
Any suggestions on accepting cards on a site without setting up my own banking would be appreciated.
These seem pretty good:
http://www.authorize.net/
http://www.paymentsgateway.com/home.aspx
You are looking for a non third party check out, but wepay dot com looks to be third party.
here are others i would use.
2checkout
1shoppingcart
and what wyffgoal suggested.
Would you maybe need an offshore merchant?
Found this about wepay
I use authorize.net + chargify, but its for recurring & you need your own merchant account
Best alternative to paypal I have seen recently is Stripe
http://stripe.com
You dont need a merchant account, their fees are very reasonable, and the best thing is that they have an extensive and very developer friendly API.
2.9% + 30c per transaction
You can create your own payment forms with their backend so you dont need to worry about storing credit card details and PCI compliance:
https://stripe.com/docs/tutorials/forms
Some of the big online names use them:
AppSumo
Foursquare
FastCompany
Justin.Tv

You dont need an own merchant account for recurring billing.
Here are two 3rd party credit card processors i use: http://www.ecsuite.com/ and http://vend-o.com/en/home
Both allow recurring transactions and vendo is also very easy to customize. Trials, upsales, step down billing..
