I don't know if it is just me or if anything else is wrong. I was running this dating offer and I was getting steady 10% CVR from last 4 days and asked my my AM to bump the payout. He did bump the payout but the conversions stopped altogether after that. I am running this offer on 1 other country and it seems to be converting like before.
BTW, I sent 80 clicks after the bump and should have gotten 8 conversions if not more.
Maybe a coincidence but I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced something like this.
could be scrubbing..i would split test with another network
It could be anything. It could be that that day of the week has a lower conversion rate or you may have banner-blinded your audience in the initial run. Also the advertiser could have made a decision that your quality sucks and they could be scrubbing you. Dating / leadgen is notorious for that.
That being said, the affiliate network could absolutely be scrubbing you to make up for paying you more. I'm not saying that's the case, but that is definitely an old affiliate network trick.
I'd split test the offer with another network if you can.
Always split test, some networks have the ability to do that and I have heard of it. I know that sometimes I have pressed merchants super hard for payout bumps (either entire campaign wide or affid wise) and they gave it to me, in return the EPC remained exactly the same. Annoying.
JDI is notorious for that. What's the offer name?
Solid deals are peoplemeets, eharmony ( free communication weekend right now ), match.com, Be2 ( I hear )
Like mentioned, split testing will answer the question for you because it really could be anything. Also always go will well established and converting offers.
Could be the day too, depending on the country.
Thanks everyone for replies. None of the network I am currently running on have that offer.
Hi hear A4D has it and applied yesterday. Hi Jason, I sent you a PM - please check when you have a moment
I was getting a steady .71 EPC on the offer offer and since the CTR has remained the same, I don't think it is banner blindness. Infact, I got more clicks since yesterday by only 3 conversions as opposed to 30 per day from last 3 days. It would have been ok if the bump decreased EPC by $0.05 or even 0.20. It decreased by a whopping 0.61.
yeah it's weird many many times I will launch a campaign and the first few days are amazing, like a killing spree... and then it drops off and is hard to recover the glory of those first few days. It's frustrating but happens a lot for me.
I stopped ALL the traffic to the offer and told my AM clearly I won't promote it at such EPCs. The offer magically started converting again. Maybe a coincidence. Personally, I think it was some error on their signup page. Guess how I know
I've definitely had a network or two implement scrub on payout bumps. One of the well-known ones always shows lower EPCs after a payout bump. NICE.
yeah that's definitely an option. if they had problems with their signup page and users couldn't sign up then you can't get paid... also you should check if people were signing up fine but the pixel wasn't firing correctly... in that case you could have conversions owed to you.
This has happened to me with solid networks (a4d) before and they come to me and say "ok the pixel was dead the last 2 days but you had 14 conversions so we're adding X dollars to your account".
Possibly scrubbing!
What offer was it? Some networks scrub, but read the scrubbing / scraping post!
I've had payout bumps from merchants (mostly CPL) and have seen 0 change it EPC. It reflects so bad onto the network it's horrible.
