Tip: Compress Your PNG Images With No Alpha Loss - Decrease Lander Load Time 50-70%

I just ran across this awesome service called TinyPNG which compresses your PNG files 50%-70% of their original size without quality loss.

Should speed up your landing pages dramatically!

Check it out!

Amazing find! I like to use png for human pictures, since it does have better quality than jpg and gif.

If any of you run Linux, these 2 are the best image compression tools that won't affect your original image's quality.

You don't wanna get anywhere near 40kb on mobile.

Tinypng is run by a Web Agency http://www.voormedia.com/services/online-marketing, are you sure you want upload all your banners to their server ?

You can have the same results using Photoshop

Start from 4'00"

Well, it depends on the format.

I ran a split test for 320x50: same graphics, network, carrier, specific device (Galaxy S2), etc.

All had 40k+ impressions:
1st version was 21kb.gif: CTR: 0,46%
2nd version was 17kb.gif: CTR: 0,48%

3rd version was 12kb.gif: CTR: 0,71%
4th version was 6kb.png (not animated): CTR: 0,96%

The sweet spot is up to you to decide

Split test the size by choosing the number of colors included:

i was eliminating colors as well to resize down. This + posterize can really push the size down A LOT.

brilliant split test, i KEPT thinking that animated would do better for CTR... BUT Jonas, you GENIUS proved me totally wrong!

will need to test more. thanks dude!
