Does anyone still use Google Adwords?
I have some free adwords credits and was wondering whats the best type of offer for adwords. I heard its now too populated and the bid prices are high, is that true? I'll still start testing as it is free advertising, just wanted inputs.
Off topic: As a newbie, its hard to acquire membership to quality Affiliate Networks. Is there a way to overcome this?

Seems there are at least a few people out there still banking. Check out recent discussions on EWA's FB page. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=...01535273233539

Yes.
It's probably the most difficult traffic source to run right now for an affiliate. Having said that, you'll learn to appreciate a higher barrier to entry if you're any good at this game.

Yes, I would go one of two routes.
1. Direct link to offers, make sure its something Google allows.
2. Build a legit property and then run your aff offers on that.
If you build a 1 page LP or run things Goog doesn't like you're just begging for a ban.
OR .... get a cloaker and take your chances.

AngryRussian... What are you seeing as being goog compliant DL? We seem to be getting dating and some gaming (non download) through.

dunno if this works in big markets and it's probably obvious to most of you guys but i use very very specific KW combinations which reflect the "buying intention".
the idea behind this is that a potential customer is probably in a very advanced state in his decision process when he enters such queries -> somewhere between D and A when we want to refer to AIDA. if i had a shop for dvd's i would insert "buy dvd", "dvd shop", "dvd online shop", "dvd online store" OR more specific "buy dvd kill bill 1", "hangover movie bluray shop" etc.
KW injection and long tail are close friends
this doesn't make me rich but it pays a few bills.

What I do is see whats around in my market to get an idea. Dating seems fine for most advertisers that have been around. Same with lead gen like LowerMyBills. I never got into gaming but don't see any issues with that.
In my fav cateogry : skin care, I see a lot of pubs have extensive article sites they link to. Then at the bottom they have a "nofollow" button that sais "Read top 3 Skin Care Review" and that just takes to a typical affilaite review page with rebills.
Just remember with Google whats cool today may not be tomorrow so always have a back up plan.

I am one of those that has been banned. PPC on the big 3 seems awfully tough nowadays.

I would be if I wasn't banned years ago. I'd like to get back on board to promote games on the GCN.

Very much so. We play in the toughest Adwords TOS words out theree.
Cloaking is your bestest friend and very easy to do. More on that soon.
Get yourself a new account. I'm just about to throw my 2 cents in how I make accounts by the dozens.

I'd like to hear it! Both on cloaking and setting up new accounts.
I'm about to setup a new account because I miss the content network. It is my favorite traffic source and if I could only choose one, I'd choose GCN over everything else

Would be interested to hear about your cloaking winley We had a kickass cloaker that cloaked Goog/B/Y/FB/POF but I think Google caught on.... new accounts are always good.

The GCN really lends itself well to the way I think about marketing offers.
Let's say I want to run that Make My Baby offer
I would think to myself, who would fill out that offer?
OK, Pregnant girls and women duh!
So I would then create an adgroup with keywords like:
pregnancy
baby names
planned parenthood
etc...
and let her rip. Track conversions and its easy which sites to keep and which to turn off. Overall they are really easy campaigns to run.
I'm not sure if I would try that offer on Goog, but thats basically how easy it is. What I like most about the GCN is how much traffic you can buy. Its crazy how much volume there is

Thanks for the explanation man! I have about $200 in unused credit, so maybe I'll choose an offer and give this a try

First thing you want to do is create a small site, populate it with some articles and get a few links. Let it sit for a bit until it starts to show up on the search results, then make some small, ultra targeted ads/adgroups. Give Google a reason to like you with high relevancy, and scale from there, especially with a new account.
I got the best results by making a blog on the site, dripping content and adding articles. Make the landing page a post and you are already on the way
