30 day PPV (30)

30 day PPV

Hello Stackers! I have just created and submitted my first paid traffic campaign ever. I am following the STM 40 Day Guide and the PPV route, no LP, just direct linking - to start with. Hope everything works; I am a true beginner. Will write updates in this thread to keep me focused and motivated. Wish me success, I will need it. STM is great, I must say. Could not have learnt as much as I have over the past weeks without you guys. And running this campaign for 30 days will increase my skills even more I am sure.

Good luck. Will be interested to see how it turns out.

What's the offer your promoting?

06-14-2012 06:07 AM #3 Loffy (Member)

comedia1, I just go with any of the new offers that suits my plans (the rationales are discussed in the 40 Day Guide) but nothing yet: LI bounced my first campaign. "No pop ups". *sigh* Well, no problem - I'll find some non-pop ones later. Need to figuer out how to filter offers in PeerFly by not only "e-mail/zip offers" but also "pop/non-pop". I'm thrilled by all this.

don't be afraid of direct linking high payout offers. I have some direct linked campaigns at 10 - 15 payouts and they're doing just fine.

06-16-2012 07:54 AM #5 Loffy (Member)

Just some scribbled lines to keep track. Have run 3 campaigns/day for the last days. Email/zip submits, direct linking. Not so many hits and only one conversion. Following the STM 40 Day Guide (PPV route). Increasing bids slightly, on attractive targets, to get some more traffic. Lessons learnt so far: a lot. Most importantly, I can do this, and that single conversion proves that all the technical stuff actually works (PeerFly - CPVlab - LeadImpact), which by itself if great. Need more conversions now, to be able to stack that money.

06-20-2012 09:40 PM #6 Loffy (Member)

update. Have ran a couple of more campaigns. Two conversions so far. I believe I am learning a lot.

Let's take one of my campaigns as an example, here are all the necessary information:
- Screenshots of my CPVLab settings for one campaign (DayNight Payday).
- Screenshots of the offer itself (PeerFly), my PPV network settings (Leadimpact) and my simple LP.

Any feedback is deeply appreciated, given that this is the very first time I try PPV/CPV.
At this point, I am mostly concerned about the technical side of things. (I.e., have I set everything up correctly?)
The quality of the kwds and the LP is also important ofc but the tech needs to work.

thx in advance

Good luck bakaleto, thank's for providing so much details, subscribed!

06-21-2012 06:51 AM #8 Loffy (Member)

thx mixteral! next thing on my agenda, is finding some nice LP tutorial videos and other learning stuff.

Seriously, the amount of new knowledge in my head over the past 4-6 weeks is incredible. Whether or not it sticks, or if I am able to convert it into profits, is another matter - will try hard though ;-)

why your cpc is .02? im running the payday offer too, but the traffic volume is too low like yours, already added some new urls, waiting for the data.
hope you'll do it well.

06-21-2012 03:38 PM #10 Loffy (Member)

mxeit, you mean the "Stats CPV"? Yes, perhaps it should be .03, thx - will change. The low traffic volume, yes, agree. And also there's a lack of conversions. My hope is finding good targets (keywords) and start experimenting with creating and using LPs. Wish you success too.

good luck bro waiting for your success story :-)

06-24-2012 03:02 PM #12 Loffy (Member)

My first ever LP. (All four buttons goes to offer.) Going to test it the upcoming days, and make lots more LPs for my other campaigns. (All PPV, e-mail/zip submit, following the STM 40 Day Guide.)

Thx to every1 for super-duper support, suggestions, and advice.

Hey dude,

I think you should blur your URL in your screenshot.

Anyway, wish you luck

zkyclear, thx!

Update

Number of campaigns: 7 (e-mail/zip submit, gift cards, payday loans)
Clicks: 1,575
Cost: $38.78
Conversions: 4
Revenue: $23.20

Still learning a lot. Need to create more campaigns. My summer vacation from my ordinary job just started so I have more time now to do that. Next weeks will see many more campaign angles in the same field (e-mail/zip submit, gift cards, payday). Direct links and LPs.

Just got the book Cashvertising (D. E. Whitman, paperback copy) from Amazon. Great read. For the first 40 pages or so, he keeps hammering in: "your copy and images should always represent the positive end results". (I.e. rather than just the product/service by itself.)

Got inspired, and whipped together this:

Far from perfect but hey I am just testing angles here :-) Will test it for the next 24 hrs.

Update on that "Happiness" LP:

Number of days: 3 (2-5 july)
Cost: $1.4
Clicks: 4
CTR: 5.7%
Engage rate (4 sec): 43%
Conversions: 1 ($5.5)

About the Engage rate, it's a special stat available in CPVLab, which I use. It tells you how many percent of the viewers remained on the LP more than X seconds. I have set X=4 sec. All per instructions in the STM 40 Day Guide. About the CTR, I am aiming for 10% or more, following the advice in this STM video.

About the incoming traffic (from LeadImpact): I have used about 30 keywords (nothing special), and I have sent 80% to this "Happiness" LP, and I've direct linked the rest straight to the offer. No conversions from the direct linking.

Clicks: 2,134

Cost: $72
Revenue: $30

In the previous post, I mentioned my current 13 campaigns. In the following post you will find the data for one of them: a JC Penney email submit campaign that i started 6 July.

Stats for day 1 (6th July) from CPVlab:
- LPs and DL
- LP, Offer, and campaign Performance

What the 4 LPs look like:

NB! There is also a LP5 but it looks just like LP4. The only difference is that LP1-4 are large clickable images, and LP5 has a clickable, animated button.

LP1 is 90kb, LP2 is 160kb, LP3 is 93kb, LP4 is 290kb, and LP5 is 70kb. They all receive good scores (96-100/100) when tested at pingdom.com.

And here's what the advertiser's offer page looks like.

Analysis
Technically: All seems to work OK, I guess. I've checked all links, and all seems to be OK. The LPs are also exposed to the clients.
Problem: CTR is low.
Solution: Need to use less generic, common targets/keywords. Will change that, to "gift cards", "coupons" et cetera, and continue to gather data.
Other: Keep on rocking!

The JC Penney email submit campaign

Day 2 (7 July)

Visits, in total: 37 (10 to the direct link, and the rest, 27, to the 5 LPs).

Number of clicks on the 5 Lps: 0

Conversions: 1 (from a direct link)

Analysis/conclusions:
I have begun to narrow the targets towards "gifts", "coupons". Will let the campaign run a bit further. Need more data.

In my opinion you need much smaller sizes, for PPV I keep not larger than 70kb as it takes alot of time to load the pop and in US many people are still on very low-speed connections.

07-09-2012 12:59 AM #22 Loffy (Member)

Thx. Re-did them all. On average, each is now 85kB in total (html, js, and the jpg). The jpg:s are on average 50kB.

07-10-2012 04:55 PM #23 Loffy (Member)

JC Penney campaign, day 3 & 4 (8 & 9 July)
Visits: 68 (all to the 5 LPs).
Clicks: 0
Conversions: 0

Analysis
1. I sense that I need to, for example, add audio, animated button, urgency, etc. to my LPs. To do that, and to create a new and better type of LP, I will use the "babies R us" LP template provided by tjin in this thread.
2. Need more traffic. Will search/add a couple of hand picked URLs that are relevant for this campaign, i.e. about jcpenney and coupons/cards.

07-11-2012 08:39 AM #24 aquasun (Member)

hey man

I'm very new to this stuff as well but a long time designer. When it comes to offering somethng / getting someone to click and hopefully convert you need to make it appealing.

I don't think currently they are all that appealing. Since many JC Penny shoppers (probably 80percent) are women, I would think its safe to target them.

Good luck!

07-11-2012 09:17 AM #25 Loffy (Member)

hi and thx for the tip aquasun. It's tricky to make LPs for PPV - so many things to keep in mind, atleast for a newbie like myself.

JC Penney campaign, day 5 (10 July)
Paused the old LPs 1-5. Created and launched a new one, LP6:

LP6 above is based on the template described in my previous post. The audio is just a female voice: "Congratulations!".

Views LP6 (day 5): 15
Engage: 20%
Clicks: 3
CTR: 20%
Conversions: 1

\o/

07-12-2012 12:28 PM #26 Loffy (Member)

JC Penney campaign, day 6 (11 July)
Views LP6: 8. (I haven't changed the lander.)
Engage: 50%
Clicks: 2
CTR: 25%
Conversions: 0

Where's the traffic? Will search/add even more URLs/keywords. (I'm buying traffic from Leadimpact.)

07-13-2012 05:41 PM #27 Loffy (Member)

JC Penney campaign, day 7 (12 July)
Views LP6: 15.
Engage: 27%
Clicks: 4
CTR: 27%
Conversions: 0

A little more traffic, which is good. Still slow as hell - will add more URLs/keywords. Major failure? Nah, as said before, I'm learning tons. Today is one month ago since I started learning (from scratch) about AM and PPV. So, even if the numbers might not look that large, significant, or impressive, I am still filling my knowledge bank with gold.

07-14-2012 04:21 PM #28 Loffy (Member)

JC Penney campaign, day 8 (13 July)

I made a new LP (LP7):

Views LP7: 350
Engage: 32%
Clicks: 45
CTR: 13%
Conversions: 1 ($1.4)

Like I said in my previous post, I would add more URLs/keywords. Which I did yesterday -- and they were:

Analysis
The stats show that the generic, general targets (e.g. "jcpenney") are at the top of the list. Whereas the more focused targets, i.e. "coupons" and "cards", do not provide so much traffic -- they are in the bottom of the list. In other words, lots of traffic and decent CTR but nevertheless very few conversions, because the bulk of the traffic are from people who are not necessarily interested in coupons/gift cards. I am contemplating remaining with PPV but testing another campaign.
