Newbie questions before starting campaigns

I'm psyched about this forum. So much great advice here...it's a bit overwhelming actually!

So I have a few questions I wanted to get direction on so I can get started and start getting campaigns up this month. would appreciate your feedback - and any course-corrections before I get started.

so far I've read thru the 40 day get started guide, MrGreen's post about how he would do it from scratch, many campaigns, Finch's premium posts, and tons and tons of threads.

My plan is to start a 30 day follow along and try launching daily campaigns as suggested. I plan to get started by the 25th and want to use the time between now and then to get everything set up so I'm ready to roll.

Here's my plan:

1. Traffic Source - POF or FB?
was thinking about using Facebook as my primary traffic source for the first 30 days. I do have some FB ads experience, but not for Aff Marketing - anything specifically I need to know or do? I think i read somewhere that you can't direct link - is this true? if so, then how do i run the offers? do i need to use frames? I don't really know how to do this - can i set this up on WordPress? and do i need to buy a domain specifically for this then?
some have suggested starting w/dating offers on POF - is that an easier plan to get started? i thought that would be more difficult b/c of the need for landing pages.

for someone w/less technical skills, what's the path of least resistance to get started?

Planning to follow MrGreen's advice about low payout offers (i.e. $1-6 w/a $20 daily budget).

2. Offers to promote - where do you suggest a newbie begin? Do i promote popular offers randomly or try to pick a couple specific niches to focus on?

3. buy software for fast ad creation - either fbadstoolbox or CrazyCTR

QUESTION: What's better - fbadstoolbox or crazyctr? and why?

4. Sign up for CPVLab optimized VPS - thru forum deal for Beyond Hosting. (not started)

5. Sign up for AdNetworks
EWA (approved)
PeerFly (approved)
NeverBlue (submitted)
Dough4ads (submitted)

Any others I should be thinking about now or is this sufficient?

6. AdBeat - what's the scoop on this? do you use it? is it worth the money and/or recommended?

thanks in advice for your comments and feedback

Jay

Hello Jay,
1. Traffic Source, Maybe start with POF
so many case studies and tips. This should answer most of your questions.
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...light=download
and
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...t=landing+page

2. Offers to promote
so many great tools here for spying on what others are doing.
from affexpert http://affexpert.com/pofsp1/index.php
also see the http://affexpert.com/tools/demographics.php

finding offers from networks, seeing what networks pays more
offervault.com
offers.bevomedia.com
odigger.com

3. buy software for fast ad creation
you have like Mr-Green-s-Plenty-of-Fish-Ad-Uploader here. not sure about the other tools.
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...h-Ad-Uploader&

4. Sign up for CPVLab optimized VPS
- you can try using the pof optimizer that is offered here Or Have an all in one aff platform like
http://bevomedia.com to do your tracking(multiple tracking option), offer rotation, geo targeting and day targeting.

5. Sign up for AdNetworks
You signed up with great networks..

6. AdBeat they seem like in the mix of
whatrunswhere, mixrank and keywordspy, spyfu
And you have moat.com to see some of the banners out there, not really spying

Thanks Snarry - appreciate your reply.

I signed up for bevo and did some research 1st on it - still not sure how it compares to cpvlab? is it totally free or later hidden fees? and do they have access to your data? i read somewhere about them having a hosting solution but their site is somewhat less than clear on all this - what's the scoop?

Hope to hear more comments from the rest of you too.

@jayesky : stop comparing, just use p202 or cpvlab (search for discount in this forum) for FB or POF, mobile traffic track using subid. just make sure your VPS not crawling, get a cheapo SSL cert too for your postback/pixel tracking, make sure you master this conversion tracking before spending boatload of money.

Like hd2010 says don't compare. just do it.
I'm just sharing what tools i prefer to use and trust.
and to answer some your Q's. Its Free to use, no hiding fees. If your looking for live support and have the network sync with the platform you will have to be verified and a few other things.
Just a tracking service i use. Does what i need LP/offer rotator, geo targeting rotator, SSL and cloaking features.

I'm confused and you guys are still speaking a foreign language to me, so hope my questions dont sound too dumb, but i dont have the domain knowledge. (the technical piece about how to get the software going isn't really covered at all in the newbie guides...I'm trying to do my due diligence here).

I'm trying to figur bevo out - is it recommended? It seems like it might be the easiest way to go. I do have host gator shared for my other websites...if I'm doing POF and FB (and not CPV) do I absolutely need VIPs to get started?

You can do ok with a shared, but i would only use it for lp's
I wouldn't go to far as to use your share host to track and diplay your lp's.

They say anything over 4 to 5k UV a day is pushing it on a share host.
So once your ready to scale your campaigns then yes a VPS (not VIP) to handle your traffic.

also BM has tut videos if you get lost.
here is a vid that pretty much show what you need to do.

okay i watched that video thanks.
so another dumb question - does it matter what domain i use? I'm going to start w/direct linking but figure i'll do some landing pages too. Will that URL show on the landing pages as it normally does, or is it somehow masked by the offer? the landing pages i've seen seem to have regular dating URL's. i'm confused again..and just trying to understand how this works and what I actually need. If anyone can clarify, thanks in advance.

PS - if someone put together a really detailed technical newbie guide, i'm sure there would be a market for it!

Hey Jay, The url that will show is what you have as your LP or offer. the tracking url will just redirect to your lp/offer so it can track it.
Their will be some JS code to put into your lander.
As you would have to with any type of tracker platform you use.

PS. I don't have time to get some guide/vid tut yet, but when i do Ill be sending you them.
Their are other places you can find some easy basic newb guide.
youtube has some stuff, here is the older BM platform but the same type of setup.

seems like a good plan.

I suggest starting with PoF, it's much more flexible in terms of ad approvals, ad types and it's cheaper.

I also suggest buying a spy tool, makes your start much smoother.

Regarding to CrazyCTR or fbadstoolbox, there is thread somewhere where people talked about this. CrazyCTR is much more advanced and has more features(my users' words not mine), for ex(what fbadstoolbox doesn't have): - browser extension to gather images much quicker, batch mode processing(up to 40 images at a time), full featured batch image editor, 145 predefined tweaks, random variations generator(generate hundreds of random variations), private online image storage in campaigns, etc....
