LeadImpact targeting - how to avoid targeting unwanted keywords?

So let's say I bid on the keyword "men"; I know that this will also target the keyword "women" and any other keyword or url that has "men" in it. How do I avoid targeting these unwanted keywords and urls?

I know if this was domain bidding I could use .men.com; is there something similar for keyword bidding so that I can only target the actual keyword?

Thx

LI does not have the concept of negative keywords.

So bidding on "men" could trigger on anything - either URL or Search Keyword or Page meta tags that contain the string "men"

Got it tjin, thanks. I guess this just means that unless we're willing to accept all of the traffic from a generic keyword then we'd better be willing to tighten up our targeting and use more complex terms and phrases and/or use the .xxx.com instead of xxx.com. The . (period) can make a HUGE difference!

I was first prompted to inquire about this when I was doing some high volume testing on the url "ing.com", which is a bank/finance company. After doing some testing and seeing my landing pages getting poor CTRs I realized that 90% of my traffic was coming from targets other than "ing.com" I was getting stuff like cooking.com, biking.com, etc...... So the lesson is to bid with .ing.com, otherwise you're simply bidding on another URL string, resulting in very un-targeted traffic!

Yep your right.

Although there are different strategies you could use depending on your available budget.

Ie -

if you have plenty of budget and want to play in the high risk high return stakes - bidding on things like:

bonus
win
coupon

Can work.

When you see signs of life (clicks and conversions) you start honing in on what keyword is the one that is working by expanding the keyword variations and the URLs
