Unpausing Ads Now Sends Them To Reviewer
Is this just me or has FB implemented some more new bullshit?
Now, when I unpause an ad, instead of getting the green arrow, nothing happens. That is, until I hit F5 and then the ad goes into review.
WTF is going on here? I can't tell if it's my proxy or something throwing up a red flag or if FB is trying to do some extra screening on ads so if they miss a money-maker the first time, they can get it the next time you go to run it.

I started seeing this last week. I was testing some new ads and had paused my other ads in that campaign to make sure the new ones would get impressions. When I resumed my old ads some of them went into review. It seems to be random, I had some go active and some go back for review.
Lesson - DO NOT pause ads. Instead lower the bid to 0.01 so they will not get impressions. When you want to turn them back on just raise the bid back up.

I haven't seen this from pausing and unpausing ads. However, I started seeing this last week whenever I would try and lower my bids. Lesson - DO NOT lower your bids to 1 cent.
I'd recommend lowering your campaign budgets instead of your bid prices whenever you want to pause. It's probably a good idea to start making a new campaign for each ad and duplicating it like polar recommends int this thread - http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...ok-**UPDATED** - if you aren't already. I can pause/unpause campaigns and change their budgets with no issues whatsoever.

That's interesting, I've never had an ad go into review from changing the bid. Thanks, I'll have to watch for that. I had quite a few go into review last week when setting them to active. Looks like FB is trying out some new tactics on us.
A separate campaign for each ad would be insanely annoying but looks like it may become necessary.

I've been doing it ever since fb made CPM ads nearly impossible to pull off and it is a bit of a pain in the ass but it's definitely worth it at the end of the day. It makes it tough to test 100s of images but you can give 5-10 images a FAIR test in 5-10 seperate campaigns pretty easily. So many ads never get a chance when you group them all in to 1 big campaign.
As far as the bid changes go I haven't had any issues getting the ads re-approved but I'm cloaking and the ads aren't anything that fb would have an issue with - so YMMV.
EDIT - It just occurred to me that sending ads back to be reviewed when you pause them or lower the bid will deter people from pausing ads and lowering their bids. I don't know if this is a "we hate affiliates" thing or an "Oh shit, our stock is in the toilet. How can we trick lazy people in to spending more money on ads?" thing.

I wouldn't worry.
This happened to me last week. But now it's back to normal. Pausing / restarting ads just fine.
Think that was more of a glitch in the system than anything else.

Thanks, I hope it was just a glitch.

don't drop bids, drop camp budget as low as you're comfortable keeping it.

That doesn't help you much with testing new ads unless you're gonna create a new campaign for each ad like razzbot suggested. Plus, you can only lower the camp budget to $1 or 2x your CPC (whichever is greater). If you go the route of a new camp for each ad, the number of campaigns you have spending $1-$2 a day will start to add up. You will still end up spending money on stuff that you didn't really want to run.

Personally, I only use budget as my strategy when dayparting a campaign. I routinely pause campaigns if I need to give my demo a rest from the ads/offer or when testing new ads.

It started happening a while ago like everyone has said. It was definitely a fault on FBs end - I reported the behaviour to my API platform's support team and they had passed it on to FB. They actually tested the behaviour using ads in my campaign to try and troubleshoot it, so FB played with my ads and I got tonnes of approval emails, lol. Lowering bids to $0.01 was my alternative pausing method and it worked for me. It seems that campaigns created during that period of time may be the only ones affected, as older campaigns I had didn't do this and I think newer ones aren't either since it may have been fixed.
It was definitely not intended behaviour.

Good to know. Any clue if it's still happening to anyone? I haven't had any issues today. I launched 3 new campaigns this evening and was slowly lowering bids with no problems.
