Hi all,
Over the last week I've been running a nice little camp and my clicks have been going through at around 18-19c cpc for a CTR of 0.120-0.140. I've had around 5-6 camps going spending a total of 1k a day accross the board. Randomly 2 days ago i received a 5k bump, the second I received the 5k bump my click price has jumped to 25-26c accross the board? When I try create a new camp with some ads they are still stupidly expensive almost as if the bump has caused my bids to go right up? Today is my 3rd day of the bump & all the new ads I've subbmited have no signs of lowering?
Example:
Camp 1 (created when my account was 1k). 0.142ctr - 0.133ctr - Budget 1k
18c cpc for the last 7 days (Still 18-19c cpc but gradually climbing)
Camp 9 (created day of the bump to 5k) 0.214 - 0.244 ctr - budget 1k
26c cpc for the last 3 days
Camp 12 (created yesterday *day2*) 0.188 - 0.191 ctr - budget 1k.
27 cpc for the last 2 days
It's really strange, I used to get traction & start my bids around 0.35c (note the suggested bid when creating is 0.12-0.16c). Yesterday I started a camp, set the bids at 0.35 & got the modification message? I had to bump the cpc right upto 60c to get any traction? I really cant work this one out.
I've hopped on a VM & checked the demograph I'm hitting and there are no new people hitting my demograph & targeting so I don't think its compatition thats pushing it up? Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Do you know if your frequency is going higher as a result of more traffic? That can lower CTRs which can raise costs.
without knowing the country and the demo its hard to give advice...as there is a big variance across countries...
I will say that if you we getting 18c clicks with a .142 in any english speaking country you were lucky to see that pricing....unless you advertising to 13 yr olds...
Competition/click prices change all the time on fb. They could simply be giving you an outdated estimate.
For awhile a year and a half ago I had to bid 2-3x the max recommended bid to start getting impressions to my ads on one account. The recommended bids on that account were unusually low at the time (it was Decmber). The conclusion I came to after awhile was that the account had a glitch and facebook was simply giving me the wrong estimate for the demo I was targeting. That account's gone now and I never saw the same problem before or since.
All I can recommend is that you slowly lower your bids to about $0.22 and see if you still get a decent amount of traffic.
I wouldn’t worry about the bid as long your CTR is high, price will always drop.
