Hey Stackers,
i am excited to be part of such a great community. The amount and quality of information available here is overwhelming. So for now, i have decided to restrict myself to facebook only.
This is my first follow along and i would like to make it as transparent as possible. Considering my experience and skill level at this moment (noobtard) with facebook, my main objective is to learn as much as i can.
For now i have decided to stick with Dating on facebook.
Offer:
network: adsimilis
offer: are you interested fb app
payout: $5.75
country: CA
budget for now: $50/day
Target :
age: 30 to any
interests: all movies
status:single
Day 1 :
yesterday i created 2 campaigns, 1 for male and 1 for female with 9 pics and 1 same ad copy.
Stats so far:
Campaign Reach : 19,100
Frequency : 3.0
Social Reach : 0
Actions : 0
Clicks : 81
CTR : 0.112%
Spent : 21.02
Revenue : 0
among all, 3 images are giving 0.13x ctr, so i am thinking to pause all rest and stick with this for now.
Objectives for today:
test more images for higher ctr
more precise targeting (age range, interests etc)
lower testing budget (how much?)
problem is i cant get my head rolling out ideas about what to put in Interest field. also i got cpvlab but i am not sure if i should track internal link?
I would really appreciate any feedback or suggestions.
Have no input (I'm a noob) but I will follow this one. Sounds very nice.
thanx bakaleto ,,, definitely need some inspiration
for today...i did exactly reverse than what i decided. i increased the bid and budget last night to get some data.
Yesterday:
clicks: 119
conv: 2
spent: $31.75
revenue: $11.50
Today:
clicks:227
spent: $71.18
revenue: $63.25
not bad.. but ctr has dropped to half and conversion rate too..i am not getting many clicks even at the end of the day i had $29 left. i have added 2 ads for same offer today. 1 pic/ad with 4 variations. so right now i am testing just 2 pics with 4 variations each. i want to post more ads but i am skeptical about putting more ads in small time.how many ads you guys put at the same time for same offer? also i am targeting same targets with all ads..m i doing it wrong?
i am not using landing page for this offer. i thought as its fb app, i should not do it. right now i am paying cpc, i will test it tomorrow for cpm.
hey, great work so far, just a little bit more testing and you'll break even. To get better CTR try more images and don't worry if you spend few $$ and you get nothing in return, you're paying for data. Once you find a winner image, you can force to get even a higher CTR by making it more eye catchy - applying borders, effects and stuff like this.
Keep up the good work, you are on the right track
got 1 more question guys
since its a fb app,it should be internal url..but i am selecting external..is this correct? for internal option i think we can only select own apps or pages ??
i expanded this campaign to 2 more countries. uk and India.
Day 3
revenue:
spent:$90
revenue:$34
IN campaign:
spent: $20
made:$9
UK:$20
made: 0
CA:
made: $17.25
in last 14 hours i just got 100 clicks although my daily budget is $100 for CA, This might be due to drop in ctr. all my images dropped ctr below 0.06
and the frequency is increased to 7.
i created several campaigns today with 30+ images but none survived over 0.05% ctr,,,
wasnt much productive data. i think i should move on from older campaigns and create new ones for same offer. also due to very low payout it seems very difficult to profit from Indian offer on Fb. i am paying 0.03/click, 1.2%ctr, conversion also seems good yet 50% loss. so i m pausing India.
i tried setting up 2 new offers today, but both got rejected. WOT was green for both. still
Ironman, focus on getting the offer profitable in one country that is looking decent before expanding to many. You'll be teetering on profitable then will just burn money on multiple new campaigns and not be able to do much with the data. Better to spend $100 on one country then get $25 worth of clicks to 4 different ones.
With your question on internal URLs:
a) you can always link to Facebook pages/apps/etc using and external URL ad, but you lose all social context - i.e. no like button or connection tracking.
b) page adverts have social context, are cheaper - though you pay for likes as well so this can negate the lowered CPCs, and you can't manipulate the URL.
c) app adverts are somewhat hybrid. You can set the app URL and this allows you to pass data through the URL, which can be retrieved through the canvas page of the app (coding required).
d) you can only link to apps and pages that you are an admin of.
With your new offers that are green on MyWoT, make sure you are not direct linking to your affiliate URL. The reviewers will likely get geo-redirected by the network and this will give you disapprovals. Always link to a redirect script you control to divert traffic where you want it. I like to have redirection in 'approval mode' when I upload ads so that the advert URL simply bounces everyone direct to the offer. Then when approvals are all finished I switch it to a geo-redirection script so that traffic actually goes through my affiliate URL.
I imagine you have your own hosting since you have CPVlab, so I suggest getting to know the ins and outs of PHP redirection and geo-redirection if you don't already, as it's pretty much mandatory for working with Facebook.
wow, thanx zeno. i wasnt thinking about redirection. i will post those ads again on monday. also i will be following zeno's advice and will stick to 1 country only.
day 4 :
spent $119
made:$52
cpc not falling below 0.35-.045, ctr is dropping very quickly, and fb not even allowing non sluty happy faces (all above shoulder). seems like its all about images.
yea, it's all about the images. You can try and optimize the potential winner images(the ones currently having the highest CTR) to get a better CTR, like adding borders or increasing contrast and stuff like this(check CrazyCTR for this to speed up things, you have 7 days free trial).
.will be testing more.thanx for the tip
thanx, crysper, just added new images with badges, will post results tomorrow. btw i got some question about how you guys go about testing images?
after spending over $400 on this campaign i havent found many images giving 0.08+% ctr.my best is 0.11%. though i havent tested more than 30 images yet. is it safe to put up 50 images at one time, grouped in 10 campaigns? also shall i just keep testing budget $5/campaign and then increase after i find good ctr image?
it has been really frustrating from past 2 days. yesterday cpc increased a lot and 9 newly submitted ads got disapproved.all of them
also the conversion ratio dropped significantly.
final stats yesterday:
spent: $155
made:$105
today:
spent:$110
made:$11.50
only 2 conversions.wtf
Total so far
spent: $442
made:$333.19
loss: $110
i am moving on from this offer because of the drop in cr.
what i have learned so far...
- facebook's ad approval cunts sux big time.
- image is everything. once you start getting good ctr, your cpc will drop (but they wil not approve any good ctr image,so far atleast not for me)
- everytime i increased budget for campaign my cpc always increased despite of stable ctr
- i decreased bids but still left it more than max suggested yet clicks stop coming.
- its difficult to get images approved on new account than older
thing i want to test further..
i dont know?????
i will start with 2-3 new offers tomorrow. the reason i did not tested shitload of images because i was afraid of getting account banned. but who cares if i am not making money?
