Dating: Facebook or POF?

Which ad system is better for the dating vertical? As I have little to no experience doing facebook, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on if it is harder/easier than doing dating on plentyoffish.

Some things that I can think of off the top of my head is that:

1) A ton more traffic on FB
2) FB has the cpc option
3) FB is more strict with ads

Any input is appreciated!

Man, tough call. Everyone will have an opinion... POF is super-super affil friendly... They actually HELP affils run offers. FB, very strict, trying to keep up good ads and weed out the riff-raff.

Obviously guys are doing 4-figs/day on POF, and not sure if anyone has broken that ceiling... But my guess is FB can scale infinitely higher.

Pick your poison, master it, stick with it, then scale to the other network as a testing/proving ground. Some things work great on FB that stink on POF (and vice versa).

Keep it simple (Maynzie style)

With Facebook would you go to foreign countries first so there is less competition?

Going international on FB has it's pros and cons. If you do go international, try the non-english speaking counrties, the clicks are cheaper. You can have your ads translated at 1 Hour Translation

Test both.

Facebook is definitely harder and it can be very easy to spend a fortunate testing despite working on a CPC basis. Don't be fooled, just because you're on a CPC it doesn't necessarily make it more cost effective to test.

I would start with POF if I were you. I find it easier to get conversions on POF as they have already signed up to a dating site and they are all looking to find someone so they are your perfect audience for dating. Plus, you'd be surprised at how much volume you can get on POF if you scale it up enough.

However, you are right, FB has shit loads of volume. And once you've found something that works on FB, I've found it's much more consistent day to day than POF.

If you can master both (which you should aim for) with dating, you will bank $$$$!

Facebook is where the volume is at. On POF youll have a hard time spending 2k across the whole platform. Whereas on FB you can spend 5k on just one campaign in one country.

Great answer

I'd say if you don't have much starting capital, and limited IM/AM experience go with POF, I started with them with $20 left over in an account from years ago, fired up a pirate game offer w/$1 payout, and was slightly profitable, but i accidentally deleted my best ad which killed the campaign and POF would not approve the dirty pirate girl picture since lol. Now our best day on pof was little over $1340 profit in 1 day..took five months from start. Right now I'm moving into facebook dating, starting w/female campaigns.
Good Luck!

I have a lot of experience doing niche things on PoF...not so much experience doing broad. I think I should try to perfect broad on PoF before hitting up Facebook. The advice in this thread is really valuable, thank you.

I haven't done much on POF, but I know for a fact that you can do big numbers on facebook dating if you can find the sweet spot.
