Hello fellow marketers!
This post is a request to the big guys here ( I assume all the mods are so they are the most likely to answer ha! )
I'm struggling to find a daily routine to better use my time. So if the guys doing big figures here would be kind enough to step in and describe what they do from wake up to goto sleep on a workday so I can see examples of successful routines, that would help me a lot!
I was thinking something like:
first thing go tru stats, pause campaigns that are not profitable, then research for new niche, put landings and ads up. go to lunch. come back, check stats...
I find myself often staring at the screen seeing a lot to do and not knowing what to do first.
Maybe this could help other people here too. Or maybe I'm just like that ole Green Day song Basket case... :P
The first 15-30 minutes of your day generally dictate how things will go. You need to get some momentum going early on.... I find that starting the day off strong is absolutely vital. If I am lazy and mess around at the very start of my day - it'll stay that way for the whole day. But if I immediately get up, start moving, do productive things, get a few simple tasks done immediately.... things go much better.
Do you wake up slowly, lie in bed for an hour, check Facebook, read the news etc..... or do you jump out of bed, have a shower, go to the gym and lift weights, come back, eat a healthy breakfast, work on your task list, start work....
Just a thought....
I'll preface this with saying I'm not at the "big boys" level yet, but I think you're gonna find A LOT of different responses in this thread because there's probably soooo much different shit that goes into what each person is doing.
But ultimately I think things can be generally summed up by just doing simple planning the night before. This is what I do...
1) Identify current objective
2) how to achieve it, all the steps... I mindmap everything, so I'll start with the objective in the middle and then list everything I have to do around it by topic. So an example is like: middle: set up dating campaign Blackpeoplemeet... first layer outside that: Find images, build lander, write copy for lander, write ads, set up tracking, set up metrics. Then I have a good sense of what to do from there.
3) order those steps from what's most important to least important
4) get to work!
I really work in like 90 minute blocks, take like 20-30 minute break, then come back. I check stats in the morning, then optimize, at lunch (to just check in make sure nothing is tanking), before dinner (make sure nothing is tanking), and then again before bed, and then repeat.
Once I get a good core about of work done, most of the really important task(s), I unwind and read, go for a run..helps clear my head and focus on what's next to come.
I think everyone's pattern and process will be different, but if you just outline what you have to do, then order it in what's most important, then do those tasks first, you'll increase your productivity by 100% guaranteed!
Holla if ya hear me!
1st Priority - Make sure things are on track since yesterday (update overall profit/loss spreadsheet for yesterday, check yesterday's financial transactions, check results by major campaign). If something is amiss, FIX THAT ASAP.
2nd Priority - Fine tune (optimize) existing camps (download network converting subids, check split tests, pause poor performing ads, increase bids in winners, etc)
[I'll typically also do some defined administrative stuff here, such as downloading raw visitor stats information, not because it is a priority, but just because I've got things open already.]
The above items typically take my no longer than 30 minutes. Usually less.
3rd Priority - Work on "heavy lifting item" that was identified YESTERDAY as I finished up the day. (e.g., new landing page, new test campaign, setting up a new tracker, working through a training program, etc.) You should not wake up and and try to decide what this item is. At the end of each day, ask, "What is the biggest task I have to do to move my business forward?" Write it down. Work on it as your first project item of the day.
After I make progress on that major project item, I give my self much more flexibility. I'll work on less important admin stuff (email, etc.) and also pick off task list items I happen to feel like doing.
At the end of the day, determine the most important project you need to work on for tomorrow, and write it down.
Everyone has their own routine.
For me I try to get all the "procrastination stuff out the way first" checking email, blogs, forums, news, eat a nice breakfast... then let the pain begin
This way once I start working I can really get to work. I have my tasks broken out to things that NEED to get done and things that are long term. I just go one by one for the NEED and in between take a break to check email and IMs. Some tasks can take up to an hour or more in which case I'll typically break them into chunks so as not to get bored.
Thats pretty much it.
Before I finish for the day I like to go over and plan what I'm going to do the next day, find that helps.
So much gold!

Thanks everyone! I'll take pointers and optimize my day. I plan reaching 4 figures profit a day till july, and that will help me a lot!
And, by being on this forum, we are all big guys hah
