ssl on tracking domain?
I'm thinking about getting a ssl certificate for my cpv lab tracking
Do you have ssl installed on your tracking domain to blank traffic? I could not find much available information about this anywhere. Could someone who is already doing this share some information about how it all works, pros and cons, effectiveness, where to buy etc ?

Flow,
The best way to do this is go to Namecheap and purchase a domain name. If you are already did, you can purchase a separate SSL for pretty cheap. You can then ask your host to install it against the domain name you are using for tracking. They will probably charge you a fee. If hosting is still something you are looking for, I went with Beyond Hosting where Tyler and his folks set up the SSL, tracking solution, etc. Very easy. Good luck!

I posted this a while ago, and I've taken care of it. I should have updated the thread. But, thanks anyway.
I went with ssl from namecheap and had beyondhosting install it, they did it for free.

I've read it somewhere that if you want to use this way to blank referrer, it is always good for you to get a decent, yes I mean it, a decent SSL cert because a free cert/lousy cert will spoil your campaign by showing some warning on the users' browser... eg... "The content of this site is not... bla bla bla..."
I don't know much about it... Perhaps someone who is more experienced can chimp in to comment on this.

Everytime I log into one of my cpanel domains (under my VPS) I always get that sort of message (untrusted domain etc). I don't understand enough about the technical side of SSL and certificates to be confident. I always view my landing pages with proxies to make sure that they work where I want them to (Just cpanel and WHM logins show up as untrusted).
I managed to install my free one in the end and have checked that it works using this great tool
www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html. Its given me a big green tick for every aspect that it checks. I'm happy now but I agree with you Kokofai, I'd like to understand this more myself to be more confident with my security.

It is better to understand this before putting it into action.
If you are doing huge volume, a difference of 5% in performance can cost you a hole in your wallet...

It's probably because cPanel/WHM comes with a self-signed certificate. i.e. They aren't signed by any certificate authority. If this is the case then it's safe to ignore. this warning. You'll have to configure you're cpanel to use your certificate if you want the warning to go away.
Also, never mix and match ssl and non-ssl content on the same page. It'll spit out warnings.

a non free one for your tracking domain is cost around $10/year, so why opt for free one and causing your self headache

I purchased one from godaddy a while back and installed it ok. Today I was messing around with another domain for a different 202 install and used the free certificate out of interest. Got it setup ok in the end
