Rip Landers With Bolt

Update: Sadly, Bolt is no longer available. However, check the rest of this thread for some alternative suggestions on how to do this!

Howdy Stackers

Had to do this video this weekend.

Yesterday started playing around with bo.lt, a new url shortener, tracker, and web editor.

Pretty awesome for ripping landers from offer pages!!

Gotta share!

The first half about bolt is cool for those that dont know html/css. The second half is for us code monkeys.

This was the offer:

Ikea Giftcard

And here is the lander i created:

Here's the tutorial:

And the links:

that bo.lt tool is great(vs. using something like httrack.com) your videos are super helpful, thanks......i see u are using chrome but curious if you know what best firefox add-on nowadays as an html/css in-browser editor in real time(that isnt a major resource hog) like your in your video ?

firebug is best for firefox but its not an editor. similar for chrome though - the web dev tools are not an editor.

Bo.lt is a great tool and I also found a way to get in without having to use Facebook:

1.) Go here
2.) Enter your stuff (URL = username), and the access key "SMOC" (without quotes)
3.) Confirm your email, done! Full access.

tijn,

Great tutorial once again. One thing I don't understand though: what's the advantage of using bo.lt to do this vs. just using pixlr like you did in your other page ripping tutorial (which, imo, is much simpler)?

http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...s-on-Speed-(p1)

Would you use bo.lt for some of the tracking features or something?

@snowverkill: Because if you just put up a landingpage that consists of nothing else than an image, it will load a lot slower than if part of the LP was handled by HTML+CSS (and a couple of smaller images).

Ah, gotcha. Thanks Alex.

yea alex is right.

Also - by doing this you will retain some of the animation used. Often landers have animated gif buttons and if you take a screenshot with pixlr you loose that.

Thank you tijn

Lose the background music mate - it's distracting.

Agreed!

I didn't even watch the video as it's too annoying trying to listen to 2 things at once.

I know this thread is wicked old, but just in case someone reads it like I did only to find they can't get Bo.lt via either of the method's posted here. I got an invite, so here's a working link - . https://bo.lt/app/widget/invite/conf...b6rmy0toldnt7f Not sure how long it will last, but have at it while it does if anyone still wants it.

Video moved to Vimeo so it should be available without problems now.

So I guess bo.lt isn't good for this purpose anymore? All you can do is share links from what I can see.

If you're looking for a way to rip pages, this is what I've used over my AM years:

sitesucker (http://www.sitesucker.us/home.html) for Mac
HTTrack (http://www.httrack.com) For PC

Or Save Page As/Save As when right clicking on the page you wanna rip. It might be more efficient with the save page complete firefox addon (don't remember name fully because it's been a year or more since I last used it)

Does bo.lt still offer the editor?

I looked all over for the gift no joy.

I signed up and never get to anything beyond a pin/share/pinterest type of app situation- never can see an editor.

I've tried bolt but my pages never seem to finish loading - they've been in "pending" mode for over a week so I ended up just forgetting about the tool. This happened a few weeks ago - anyone still using bolt successfully?

looks like bolt has gone I cant get the site to resolve at all...I loved those tracks on the video as well!

05-02-2013 06:19 PM #26 nirotnt (Member)

Bolt was awesome!!!
I think they discontinued their service
oh well... Sitesucker for mac is a really good way, also there are some Firefox addons that will do the trick

There is a Chrome extension that does the trick very well Click HERE

nirotnt in the past ive used httrack to download full sites but if you just want screen shots ive used chrome extensions but i think the best by far is evernote now as i can link it all together with my other thoughts etc.
