Prosper202 stopped tracking clicks
I'm hoping someone here can help me find a solution to this problem. Last night my P202 stopped showing any clicks. I noticed that I hadn't received a click in over an hour which was odd so I went to my computer and checked my campaigns. When I checked my network stats I saw that I had actually still been getting clicks and even had a few new conversions.
So, the good news is that my links are still working and my campaigns are still running. The bad news is that I am not getting any tracking data and can't tell where the conversions are coming from.
Before you assume that I just have my tracking set up wrong know that some of these campaigns have been up and running for months without any changes and worked fine until last night.
This morning I did some testing to see if I could find the problem. Here is what I have so far that may help you:
- some clicks are randomly showing up but most are not being recorded
- this is happening across multiple campaigns and different offers
- the conversions that show up on the network side have empty subids and are not passing any of the C variables (except for the ones that actually show up in 202)
- the above is true across multiple networks
- this is FB traffic
- these campaigns are using a simple landing page
One last thing, this is being hosted on HostGator shared hosting
. I know that it is not recommended to use HG or a shared hosting plan for tracking. I plan on moving to a VPS (probably BeyondHosting) but wanted to wait a little longer before adding that to my monthly expenses.
If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Should I try reinstalling P202? Should I just suck it up and move to better host?
Thanks,
Aaron

Yes, I did. I also ran the "check DB" function and everything came back OK.

hmm if everything worked properly in the last days your lp setup etc is definitely correct..so it must be a server-side problem..my first guess was a mysql issue but if thats running fine it must be something else..so i think a reinstall of prosper won't fix the problem..
and definitely get a decent vps..even the starter vps ($49/month) from beyond is a hundred times better than your current setup. having a working hosting setup is one of the most important things..look at it as an investement...with hostgator you're not safing money you will loose money..like you do right now
so my advice: get a vps from beyond with prosper pre-installed and you won't have to deal with issues like this anymore..even if there is a problem they will fix it quickly
ps: try to "repair" the db..maybe it helps

Thanks, I went ahead and placed an order with BeyondHosting. I know I've been slacking on the tracking server and planned to move it eventually. I would have liked to have waited a little longer but this was a good reason to do it. I think I'll be happy I did it plus, I get 6 months for 50% off with the STM coupon code
.

yeah you can't go wrong with that especially with the 50% off. when i first started out a couple years ago i went with cheap hosts too in the beginning...never again. you save so much time and trouble with a good host andyour main focus should be on building campaigns and not having to deal with server issues.

So, I already moved my 202 install to the new BH VPS. It was pretty easy, I did an install of 202 and then imported my DB into the new one that the installer created and then copied over my config file with updated credentials. So far everything looks good but I need to install a cert for SSL so I can post back conversions. Other than that things are looking good.

open a support ticket..i'm pretty sure they can install the SSL for you if you don't want to do it on your own..and i'm glad you moved your tracking too a good host. im 99% sure you won't regret it ;-)

You have to open a ticket to install the SSL with the beginning plan. You don't have the right permissions/access to be able to install it yourself, as far as I know. When I had them install my SSL they were really quick about it.

How big is your DB? I've had a buddy with the same issue. Cleaning out his db greatly helped.

LMAO! Germany is a long way from Ohio for a couple of punches

. Thanks for all your help. It was about time that I moved my 202 install to some decent hosting, it's one of the most critical pieces of what we do.

Yeah, I think you're right. I have a different domain for my new 202 install, will I need to have a new certificate issued?

That crossed my mind too. It's not very big, only 25.4 MB.

haha true :-)
yeah if it's a new domain you have to issue a new one..you can get good/cheap ones at namecheap.
and for the db size 25.4 mb is close to nothing...even if it's 2 GB or more you shouldn't have any issue.

I bought a new cert for my domain and had BH generate the CSR. I just sent them the new cert and should be all set. I miss my little $ icons in 202
