What Hosting do you guys reccomend for PPV traffic?
As a Affiliate how important is having CDN?
Currently I have a hosting @ bluehost.com for my webpages.
From the looks of the posts, everone on PPV are using some kind of VPS.
So once I have this 'vps' hosting, all I need to do is FTP upload my LP's in the directory and im done?
Or is there alot of technical shit I need to know?
If I have to I'll pay someone, I will. Shit's not worth my time spending to become a server expert.
I'm learning about tracking with prosper202/tracking202. I am new to this as well.
But theres a vast amount of info (google),
I want to ask you guys what I need to get up and running.
Im only used to tracking with Subid reports. Laugh, but ive made 48k from 1 offer.
I am new to VPS as mentioned in a few posts for PPV, Ive only been direct linking offers for FB.
The only interface Im familar with is cpanel and wordpress. lol.
Please help Stack! Thanks...
When I was new to hosting I had no clue what was going on. I used godaddy at first but I hate their customer support and their "interfaced" ftp on their site. I use wiredtree because of their great support. I had no clue about anything with a VPS and all that stuff and how to direct my domains to my hosting. WiredTree support is basically available 24/7. Most times I'll email them with the dumbest questions in the world and they respond in 5 mins.
But, recently they have been having some downtime with their hosting the past couple months. Not every day but it happens every once in awhile. I will be looking for another hosting company soon that has the same or better support. It can get frustrating if you have a campaign live and your hosting goes down for 10-30mins.
my experience - if your doing ppv - go for a vps.
re: CDN - test it. I think you can still sign up for a free amazon aws account which comes with cloudfront and s3 and a couple of gig of bandwidth.
I use a CDN for my graphics and scripts.
I use Storm on Demand. If you need help setting up the server check out Beyond Hosting - they have a special p202 deal where they set it all up for you.
If you push CPV volume you need to get at least a vps for your tracking. DON'T use shared hosting or your server will crash. A VPS around $50 does the job just great (I recommend Storm On Demand) and you can run the tracking/landers on the same server. To get you started there is no need to use services like AWS as long as you don't really need video streaming or hosting any kind of big files.
I am also not sure if AWS now has a real time caching. The last time I used them they released the cache after 24h which sucks. This way you can't override an existing image with an updated version as AWS still showed the "old" one.
Get yourself a VPS probably with WHM and cpanel and get you feet wet. Setting up the tracking isn't hard though and only takes you about 3 minutes. Once there you can follow their video tutorials and create your first campaign, good luck.
edit: also look at Beyond's CPVlab hosting deal
- Just like anything your going to have to learn new interfaces! With PPV you need to track very well so you know which URLs are profiting.
PPV tracking option 1 = Prosper 202
PPV tracking option 2 = CPVLab
*Both do a great job, and none have any major flaws or special features. Choice is yours!
- Storm on demand seems to be a favorite company by many affiliates, Hostgator also has some nice VPS deals
I have become a huge fan of CPV Lab compared to P202. Im no server expert and have always received very useful support at The Planet - now Softlayer.
I would say get CPV Lab and a dedicated server.
^^ If he's not running a lot of traffic though, then start off with a VPS, it's usually really easy to upgrade the second you need to handle more traffic.
Thanks everyone
After looking though my vps options, I'm goin to go with beyonds deal $50 /mo with cpvlab setup done for you as I have no server experience.
After getting my vps, I'm going to purchase cpvlab to have them install.
After setting up my tracking ill be able Setup my campaigns to anyalize my ppv traffic. Being new I checked p202 compared to cpv lab, cpv lab had more features I am looking for as an affiliate.
Is this a good starting point?
Do I need anything else?
I'll be working on direct cpv and traffic vance.
This is perfect. Either tracking will be fine, and having them set it up for you is a good idea. Just get used to the interface of whichever tracking you choose, watch all vids and do a test campaign.
Stack or anyone promoting cpvlab post your refferal link. I'm goin to purchase tonight. Thought id buy off someones link here. Thanks.
