Anyone used Twitter's paid advertising? +$ info for those thinking of it

Hey guys,

My company was invited recently to do some paid advertising on Twitter via their Sponsored Tweets, Sponsored Follows, and some other kind of sponsored-something.

In my opinion, off the bat, it seems like a complete waste of my money if I'm a performance advertiser as opposed to a "brand" advertiser (which is the case). However, I'm looking to see if any of you have had any experience with them?

Just FYI in case some of you are wondering what the costs are to do these campaigns:

-$1-$3 per follower (you're put in a "suggested followers" list)
-$.80-$1.50 per "engagement" for sponsored tweets, where an "engagement" is a click (if there's a link), a reply, a share/retweet, or a "favorite" of your tweet
-you can geotarget now, which apparently is new, and can target by keywords people search for

I have spent well over $200k on Sponsored tweets and some others. Massive quick traffic but most does not back out for advertisers. I would suggest running it only for one field offers.

Thanks for that pricing info. Was thinking about some twitter advertising but those prices wouldn't likely make sense (or a good roi) for my idea ...but yes for a brand advertiser things may be different

Really? I've never seen success come from twitter whatsoever because it's already so filled with spam most people seem immune to it. Also, for the most case (atleast previously before the explosive growth), the demographic of peple that used it was a little smarter than normal.

It only works if you're offer some sort of incentive. The power of Twitter is in the ability for your ad to get "retweeted" (which you don't pay for) so usually you have to offer some sort of incentive for your tweet to get retweeted. I spoke w/ Match.com about their experience and they say it's crap for direct response but decent for branding. Minimum $15k buy too (or 10k, I don't remember) but way too much to ask for a test campaign.

I bought some sponsored tweets using buysellads. Didn't really back well out for me. Didn't make any sales out of it, but then again I didn't really put in a full effort.

Ha. We are definitely going after the left hand side of the bell curve...
