Bot Traffic
When running a media buy and getting tons of clicks with no conversions, when do you start to suspect that it's bot traffic?
I've heard that looking for dupe IPs is useless as they don't use the same ones over and over. So how do you know when the placement and your LP is being hit with bots?

if you install a tracker like get clicky you can watch bounce rates.....and user agents....also since clicky takes about .2 seconds to do its thing you will often see a huge discrepancy if its bots....

I just saw the same thing today with a media buy.
I had 6000 hits on my LPs and zero click thrus (and 0% engage rate)
So I decided to direct link to see if that would work - nope.
2000 clicks through my tracker to an affiliate link BUT zero clicks registering at the CPA network.
100% FRAUD TRAFFIC

go with dans suggestion.
thats the only way to see what traffic is hitting your site and whether these are bots.
you can also check your webserver stats - which user the server log files - to see if there were any bots. CPanel will have it build in. Or install something like AWStats

Ok, I'll install Get Clicky for the next time.
For now, which one of the server log proggies do I use to look at log files? There's like 6 different options for these in Cpanel.

I really wish there was a product/plugin (inside or outside of clicky) that would create reports of "possible" bot hits so I can charge that stuff back easily. As it is now, the act of charging back a media company for fraudulent clicks is such an arduous task I usually just elect to not do it at all.
(I'd definitely pay for this... someone wanna take my offer up?? :-D)

It was from Marimedia.
I'm not suggesting that Marimedia is a place to avoid, because I have campaigns there that are showing some positive signs.
But this particular campaign was complete crap.

Some of our users have noticed this with a few of the sites on our system. After some investigation, we usually notice that most of the clicks come from the same IP or range. We've since removed those sites from the system. They're usually low-quality manga or celebrity sites. If you notice something like that happening on our system, please let us know, so we can weed them out.

Strange but I had the same issue from Marimedia . 30%-40% was bot traffic .
I showed them proof ( prosper logs ) and they refunded me 100% of the bad traffic.
I think I might still have the query that sorts ips in prosper by number of hits . Will look for it and post here.
With that you can easily see what kind of traffic you getting.

Will AW Stats give me the same information as Prosper does? And can you filter the IPs to detect dupes?

I think AW Stats can give you a report of most frequent visitors by IP or Hostname
Heres a demo of the bots view:

The list based on visit frequency
