New SOPA...This time they are serious

While SOPA failed, US congress renamed their bill and this time they have some serious support.

This is exactly why I hate the whole god damn government, and the fact that I am 18 years old and pay 40% in taxes but that is beyond the point

I signed but I have a question. It'll ask for 100k signs, then 150k, so on and so forth. What happens when they reach their goal of how many they are trying to get? What happens from there?

I'm not sure of the details but without 100k signed petitions you can't submit it to government. I think that its more about getting as many people as possible aware of it to get it to snowball like the SOPA revolt.

Here is the White House's response to two previous "We the People" petitions regarding SOPA and OPEN:

https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petition...ative-internet

They've said several times they won't sign any law that "reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risk, or undermines the dynamic, innovative global Internet."

IMO it might be more useful to create a petition on the White House's official site since apparently they do pay it some attention -- whereas I'm not sure how much credence they're gonna give to Avaaz, since it appears to be largely non-US folks signing it anyway.

they will keep going till they get their way.

the only thing we can hope for is that the bill will be so watered down that it is useless...§

I agree with joshogle, most of the folks singing there are from other countries.
