hello,
just want to confirm how lead impact works because I saw something strange today.
basically, I have a campaign setup with user frequency cap of 6 days.
so last Thursday I got an opt-in from this email address that is very distinct - so I remembered it. Then today, I got the same person opting in for the SAME campaign again, after 6-7 days.
So my question is ... if we are bid on VERY SIMILAR targets or the same set of targets for a long period of time, are we simply popping to the same group of users?
I guess it would be interesting to know how many unique users are we popping to v.s. "recycled" traffic?
any insights would be much appreciated!
thanks
I usually set my Frequency caps as far apart as possible to avoid this issue. If it's a small demo, low volume target, then chances are you'll get repeat traffic from time to time.
cool. just throwing my thoughts out there to see if it makes sense. repeat traffic depends on:
A) the url you bid on
... if you are bidding on a target that is worth revisiting (a local news site or something) then you are going to get the same group over and over again
B) if you are bidding on keywords
if you are bidding on keywords, the likelihood of repeated traffic is higher because you don't know what url is popping up and if they keep looking for information in the same niche, you will pop
C) the niche itself
say your niche is snoring... then once the problem is solved, these users aren't going to browse to sites related to snoring again. this is v.s. sites you always check back like news sites
There are scripts out there to help you show a different page to the same viewer on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time they see your pop.
This can be helpful if you are bidding on targets that get repeat traffic.
It's possible that a competitor was spying too, and that the opt-in was a competitor.
it's basically re-targeting based on IP... I've thought about implementing it.. but I believe if you set your caps far enough apart, get your campaign solid enough, you shouldn't need to rely on this heavily, especially if you're targeting high-volume targets which have a lot of fresh eyes visiting daily.
I would assume repeat visits come mainly from micro-niche targets that have a small demo, especially blogs
this topic is getting interesting because i just got another person opting in again. and this time, it's for an entirely different niche.
my caps are set to 6 days ... may that's not far enough?
@andy_d, who do you classify as "high-volume" targets?
harrypotter..
targets that can burn up 100's of dollars in an hour are in my opinion, fairly high volume.
For instance, ebay.com
