How does prosper pass Sub-ID's through? (16)

How does prosper pass Sub-ID's through?

I can't afford VPS hosting yet so i want to use the Sub-ID's that prosper pass through to my network to update my conversion instead of using pixels.

But i don't get Sub-ID's passed through to my network, or is that because prosper only pass sub-ID's through at conversions, because i only tested it with a few clicks without a conversion.

I hope someone can explain this to me.

Thanks in advance!

the feedback machanism from your cpa network to your tracker (prosper) is by pixel tracking or postback tracking, most people use pixel tracking. Most of the cpa networks, the pixel tracking url needed to be HTTPS, hence a SSL cert needed to be purchase. Last time, Namecheap give free ssl cert when you register a domain, not sure the promotion still valid or not, anyway a normal SSL cert works wonder, postiveSSL or rapidSSL, both of them cost less than $10 yearly.

If your pixel tracking configured correctly, maybe your traffic source or your prosper's link not configured correctly, shoot us more info. We can't solve something without adequate information

I don't use pixel tracking because the url needs to be HTTPS like you said, which requires a SSL certificate and VPS hosting which is currently to expensive for me. That's why i need to update by conversions (Subids) in prosper manually since i don't use automatic pixel tracking. What i don't understand is, how prosper sends Subids through to my affiliate link, which i have to import later manually in to prosper. The problem is that i don't get any Subids passed through to my affiliate link/network so i can't update my conversions into prosper.

This is what i have done:

i have added my affiliate link in prosper at step 3, like this:

http://www.tracklead.net/click.track...ADID=1234&SID=

Then i went to step 7 to create my tracking link.

this is what i got:

http://www.mydomain.com/tracking202/...id=165&t202kw=

What i thought was that when everytime a click occurs on my tracking link is that prosper sends a unique number (Subid) through to my affiliate link/network so i can import these later into prosper to update my conversions.

Or does prosper only send a Subid through to my affiliate link/network if a conversion occurs?

prosper will pass a subid for every click but you have forgotten to add the "[[subid]]" token in step 3..you have to add your link like this:

Code:
http://www.tracklead.net/click.track?CID=1234&AFID=1234&ADID=1234&SID=[[subid]]

By the way, if i export Subids from my affiliate network to an excel spreadsheet, it puts all the information in one column instead of spreading every variable in an seperate colum, which makes it very hard to pull all the subids out.

This is what i get with EWA:

Anyone got a solution to this?

Did the filename end with .csv? If not, add that extension.

Excel is importing your data as plain text instead of csv.

The filename ends with .csv. To be exact this is the file type: Microsoft Excel Comma Separated Values File (.csv)

@robbin : you can run your campaign on shared hosting 1st, once profitable move to vps, whether you use shared/vps/dedicated or cloud, all can host multiple domains and ssl certs, it just depends how the hosting owner package their plans. shared hosting is not recommended as the resources are shared, that mean might be overcrowded or the admin will boot you off when he find out you tearing down the server which the shared hosting you're on. I still believe one or few profitable campaign can be pushed through on the shared platform.

How about for coreg? In Prosper do you simply append ?sid=[[subid]] at the affilate offer ? I heard / read using pid. Right I'm not getting any thing passed ..

I don't run much volume yet so i keep using shared hosting until i begin to drive more traffic. and about the SSL certs, i e-mailed my webhost and they told me that it isn't possible to host SSL certificates on my shared hosting account because SSL certs need a dedicated IP which shared hosting doesn't have.

Your host sucks then. WHM makes it extremely easy to set an account to a dedicated ip and install an SSL.

I agree with what tyler said, some hosts even you give them the best justification, they still can't shell out the additional ip address, you can go to webhostingtalk.com to review hosting companies, as long as you have more good reviews than bad reviews, worth a try, last time, I split testing hosting company, just pay monthly, if suck, move on.. there are bunch of good companies including tyler's
