Landing Pages on Speed Follow up

Ok as promised here is part 2.

In the first part of this tutorial I showed you how to quickly rip a landing page as a graphic.

In this followup, I will give you a landing page template / script that you can use to quickly test offers using images as landing pages.

Heres an example:
http://30m.org/stm/offertest/?o=3

Once you set it up on your server, all you will need to do is upload a new landing page image, and config the 'offer url' you want users to be redirected to when they click.

If you use CPVLab, then there is even less to do. Just upload the image and add the relevant lading page URL to your cpvlab campaign.

So what are the benefits of this script?

Instructions

1. Download and install

Here is a zip of the files you need to place on your webserver. Download it, unzip and upload to your webserver folder.

All files are saved in a directory called "offertest". Just upload it and rename it to something appropriate for your campaigns.

http://30m.org/stm/offertest.zip

2. Upload your landing page images

In part 1 i showed how to rip offer landing pages into jpg images.

The 3 examples are included into the lp folder in the zip file.

To use your own images, just upload them to the same folder and give them a unique number. You can overwrite 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg.

Make sure you use jpg files with the extension .jpg

3. Edit config.php

Open config.php in your favourite editor and make these changes:

- Update the page title (optional) by changing the value for $page_title

- Add the links for each of your offers by updating $offer_links. Make sure you use the number of your landing page images uploaded in Step 2. An example is included in config.php for the files that were included in lp/

- If you dont want to maximise the window when the user clicks on the image, change the value of $max_on_click to false

- If you want to load the offer into a new window when the user clicks on the link, change the value for $target_window to '_blank'

- You can update or change the included disclaimer by editing the value for $disclaimer

Save config.php and upload back onto your server overwriting the default config.php.

4. Test your landers

Just make sure that your landers are working. Here are the urls for the example i setup:

http://30m.org/stm/offertest/?o=1
http://30m.org/stm/offertest/?o=2
http://30m.org/stm/offertest/?o=3

So go ahead and load your own urls in your browser to make sure its all working.

Your landing page url is always the same, but just include a different number at the end corresponding to the unique number of the landing page files created in step 2.

Done

Thats all there is too it.

Enjoy and post if you have questions or if anything is not working for you.

Awesome, really like the "maximize window on click" function
One question, in the config file above the offer URLs you're referring to a part of CPVlab so I assume this tool is being used in addition to it? (Or has Cpvlab the function of this tool implemented already?)

05-29-2011 11:09 AM #3 tijn (Moderator)

he alex

great you like it.

the offer urls in config.php are flexible.

if you dont use tracking, then you can just enter there the different offer urls you get from your cpa network.

if you use propser then you enter the url for each of your campaigns.

if you use cpvlab then your url is often the same (http://cpvlabdomain/path/base2.php)

Thanks, I figured you could plug in whatever URL you want in there, I just wondered if owning CPVlab made the above tool obsolete? Or does CPVlab have the functionality already but with your tool it's still faster to set up such a quick test?

Thanks for the awesome tutorial. But because i'm a visual learner and i use cpvlab, i hope you can go beyond and do a tutorial for setting with cpvlab for the benefits of visual learners.

05-30-2011 02:05 PM #6 tijn (Moderator)

Sure - will do! Give me a couple of days but ill show you my workflow of setting up a campaign in cpvlab

05-30-2011 03:00 PM #7 constantin (Member)

thanks for this but after messing around with bo.lt it seems a bit clumsy. Not sure where the power is in it but I'll definitely check your tutorial out on it when it's released!

05-30-2011 03:03 PM #8 tijn (Moderator)

not sure which tutorial your referring to but the one on bolt is already here and visible through the video link in the first post. If your referring to the cpvlab one - yeah that will take a couple of days and depends on what wins on the poll i just posted

05-30-2011 03:17 PM #9 constantin (Member)

ahh didn't realize bo.lt was included in the video...i'm actually watching it right now. awesome!

05-30-2011 03:24 PM #10 tijn (Moderator)

no problem. hope you like it.

05-31-2011 09:39 AM #11 nz_mike (Member)

I looked at bo.lt and thought fantastic ... but then I noticed you are limited to a maximum of 10,000 page views / month so I didn't think I could use it with PPV since 10,000 impressions go by pretty quick. Do you have a way around this limitation or am I mistaken?

Thanks
Mike

Doh ... I didn't real;ise you could download the files and presumed it was hosted all on their servers.

One thing, as this was a fairly simple landing page couldn't you have just copied an image of the offer page and then made most of those changes in an image editor. Although I do see the benefit of it when more substantial changes are required. Good tutorial though.

05-31-2011 02:27 PM #13 tijn (Moderator)

He Mike

Yeah that could have worked but the purpose of the tutorial was to show how you can quickly rip the html. You can apply the same approach with more complex landing pages without having to resort to poor quality images.

Thanks for the guides .. they were helpful.

06-01-2011 01:13 AM #15 nz_mike (Member)

Thanks for the guides. Any chance you can detail the format of the code/scripts we need to delete wrt tracking, framebreaking scripts etc

06-01-2011 04:35 AM #16 tijn (Moderator)

He Mike. Not sure what you mean regarding "script you need to delete wrt tracking / framebreaking" ?

In the 3rd tutorial in that series I give an example where I delete some scripts - not sure whether that is what you are referring to?

Hey tijn,
Thanks for the help, probably should have read the post properly before I hassled you haha.
Got my first landing pages up thanks a lot.

06-22-2011 05:25 PM #18 jpat86 (Member)

I'm having a hard time getting my landing page up. I put the Offertest folder in my domain directory. So it looks like this: /public_html/jopattracking.info/offertest

Did I put it in the wrong area? What would the url be to test my LP? Btw, I have Hostgator Shared Hosting. I get an error that saids:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')' in /home/public_html/jopattracking.info/offertest/config.php on line 10

06-22-2011 11:02 PM #19 darren (AMC Alumnus)

Hey jpat86,

I just loaded this up as well so hopefully I can assist.

Your URLs to test your LP's should look like this: http://jopatracking.info/offertest/?o=1
I had the same error, and just removed the extra ')' at the end of line 10 - this seemed to work.

06-23-2011 12:29 AM #20 jpat86 (Member)

Thanks Darren, I deleted the ['] on line 10 and etc. but it just got another error. But you still gave me an idea to delete the other ones and manage to get through.

Finally, I get to work!

06-23-2011 07:27 PM #21 scotchsales (Member)

big thanks for the tutorial and the codes.. just got it setup and about to test my very first PPV campaign! woot..

06-25-2011 12:23 AM #22 tijn (Moderator)

He guys. Apologies for the typo in the config.php file. I have updates the files and uploaded a new version to the server.

tijn,

Is this compatible with the jQuery pre-pop as discussed in this thread?:

http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...-LP-CTR-and-CR

I added a basic pre-pop to one of your pages but cannot get it to show up.

Any ideas?

07-14-2011 02:24 PM #24 tijn (Moderator)

Should be. Send me a link to your lander and ill have a look.

10-21-2011 08:10 PM #25 jasontm (Member)

Any reason I can't get the max window fuction to work? I've tried your page above too and it will not maximize for me. IE and Firefox. Is anyone else having this problem? I've tried a few scripts from other places and I'm not sure if viewers on LI is going to have the same problem. Any suggestions?

02-04-2012 07:11 AM #26 chenkev (Member)

Hey tijn,

I just got CPVLab today and trying to install your script. Can you tell me if these steps are right so far?

Put my LP images in LP folder.
Change the offer URLs to url.com/base2.php
Upload folder to my server.

Now when I put the LP url into CPVLab, do I use url.com/path/lp/1.jpg ? or index.php (but then how do I choose which image)?

And then for step 2 in CPVLab, it tells me to paste some code before my body tag:
<input type="hidden" id="hidLocation" value="http://url" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://url/cl/landing.js"></script>

Do I still need to do this with your script? If so, where?

Thanks, and sorry if it's an obvious question >.< Still new to this

Hey there,

Can really see the potential in this script, but I'm having trouble setting this up. I have downloaded the script and installed it on shared hosting, but I'm having trouble getting the URL's to display the "?o=3" end bit of the URL.

As a result I can't make any of my images clickable. I am sure it's going to be something tiny, but I've been pulling out the last bit of hair I have trying to get this to work. Has anyone been having the same issue?

Here's my link http://buy1800numbernow.com/stmtest/offertest/lp/1.jpg

Also another question....Do you need to install a MSQYL database to get this to work?

Thanks,
Oliver

hi Oliver,

I use CPV lab. So what I did was to add "http://bestmarketing29.com/base2.php" (which is the link for CPVlab to call my lander) on config.php file's folder in front of offer links, on all the offer links that I wanted CPVlab to track. If you are not using CPV lab for tracking, just put down your offer link in front of the offer links and make sure the offer link's number matches your image you are planning to use on your lander which should be uploaded on your server.

so $offer_links[1] = 'http://yourofferlink.com'; would refer to offer 1 and to image 1 if you chose ?o=1 at this end of your LPs link .

. then when you want to paste the LP link on your CPVlab to call a specific lander. you just place your link like this: http://buy1800numbernow.com/stmtest/offertest/lp/?o=3 as your lander. Depending on your image folder name u use, you put a different number at the end. for this example it is ?o=3. If you want your image number 2 to display on your lander then you use ?o=2 and this way this link will call a different image for you and depending what offer link you placed on config.php a different offer.

I hope this helps, I am noob myself and I know how hard it is to get started. Just need to push forward

Hi tijn!

I'm using tracking 202 and I'm wondering where would you put the "Inbound Javascript Landing Page Code" that is generated in the t202 Setup?

I have tried putting it in the index.php before the last "</body>". Will this be correct? I seem to be having a problem because I do get a record on the T202 "spy view" but this is generated by accessing the link I will post on POF later.

Thanks for your help I'm trying to figure out how to understand tracking and I'm taking it step by step.

Cheers

04-01-2012 12:08 PM #30 tijn (Moderator)

yes put it just before thre </body> tag in the html

04-01-2012 12:24 PM #31 afilia320 (Member)

Thanks for the help tijn! I have a further question on this subject:

I can see my visits on T202 on the SPY tab but nowhere else. Is this normal? I'm still wondering if the T202 script is doing what its supposed to on this place. I'm wondering if I should see further info on the OVERVIEW|ANALYZE|VISITORS tabs which are currently not registering this clicks/visits.

And:

I have successfully registered a visit on the SPY tab, should I need to generate another T202 link to track the outgoing clicks(clicks directed to the offer per se).

And is there a way to relate this two figures: Page visited and Clicks to get a visible CTR in T202?

I might be deviating from the main topic a bit but I'm just trying to figure the tracking part out, all related to installing the LP and making it work correcty I have understood perfectly.

Thanks!

04-02-2012 09:26 AM #32 tijn (Moderator)

yes you should see them in your analyze view, jst make sure you havent set the filters / date to exclude them,

Best way to check is is to set the settings like this:

Re: generating another link -

Yes - you need to get a click through link:

Setup -> #7 Get Links

Any click throughs will then be recorded against the right keyword/landing page.

04-03-2012 03:20 AM #33 afilia320 (Member)

Thanks tijn! I am using this structure for all my campaigns now testing different creatives and figuring things out.

04-09-2012 01:11 PM #34 afilia320 (Member)

tijn,

Will the offers appear as a pup up sized to fit the image? (in Lead impact)

I would like to use this same structure on my next campaign along with the ClientLocation JS you featured on this post. I'll try to make it work and then do my first follow along on PPV.

Thanks!

Hi Tjin,

I try to install on my localhost but once I run, my browser shows Offer not defined; Can not load landing page. I already put these value "lp/1.jpg" or "lp/1" for location of landing page images but still failed, while the image is already loaded on lp folder. Is there something missing?

Problem solved. Forgot to include ?o=1 at the end of url

04-17-2012 03:39 AM #36 pata33 (Member)

Tjin,

Thanks!!!!!!! This is a cool script. I have 1 question.

I use T202. As you are probably aware, T202 generates "landing Page Code" for us to put on index.php. The problem is that T202 associates this code to a specific Lander/Offer. So in your example, all 3 "campaigns" (golf, gucci and grocery) would all roll up to the same "Lander/Offer" in T202.

Am I missing something?

08-31-2012 05:32 PM #37 soimpossible (Member)

Hi,
Great script. Thanks! I worked through all of it. But i am trying to split test with prosper202. can anyone shed some light on how to do that?

09-25-2012 03:04 AM #38 mental alchemist (Member)

does anyone know where your suppose to put the tracking202 php script on the config.php?

09-27-2012 09:26 AM #39 jryan54 (Member)

Okay, i'm having some dramas getting this to work with CPVLab...potentially because im mentally defective.

I have it all setup but when I test CPVLab's campaign link it redirects and ends up at the actual peerfly offer page Not my LP.

Now in my config.php settings I have the direct peerfly offer link setup as o1 and o2.

Prior to this I had www.site.com/base2.php in those offer links and when i clicke the CPVLab campaign link the page def showed up BUT clicking the image seemed to go to a black page.

So i'm screwed either way.

Any ideas?? as this is stopping me clicking go on my first campaign.

Cheers

09-27-2012 09:41 AM #40 jryan54 (Member)

Okay, i've got it working...I forgot to factor in that the campaign URL splits the traffic based on the settings between direct link and the landing pages.

Phew...what an idiot I am...LOL

I need to figure out where do I put the outbound links from prosper on the config.php

I'm getting an index page when I enter my campaign link. What am I doing wrong?

If I click on the parent directory I get a page that says the offer is not defined

I've been through this thread about a dozen times and don't see my problem. I am a noob so I'm hoping this will be easy to fix.

10-04-2012 02:39 PM #44 rjpbseal (Member)

OK, I think I have this fixed, or at least duct taped. Instead of setting my LP link as http://mysite.com/offertest/config.php&0=1 (in cpv lab) I set it to http://mysite.com/offertest/index.php&0=1

In the config.php where the offer links are entered ($offer_links[2] = 'http://addyourredirectorofferlinkshere.com) instead of entering the base2 link from cpv labs I put the actual affiliate link from the network.

I entered the landing page tracking codes from cpv labs into the index file and tested the cpv labs campaign link. It all works and the clicks show in cpv labs.

I'm pretty sure this is not the way it's supposed to be set up but it is working so I started the campaign in LI earlier this morning. Just awaiting approval now.

I would like some input here if anyone can set me straight. Thanks.

10-04-2012 02:46 PM #45 rjpbseal (Member)

Looks like I've been so busy and frustrated trying to learn to use this tool I forgot the most important thing.

Thank you.

This is pretty awesome shit here. It may be like giving a machine gun to a monkey in my case. I'll try not to do too much damage.

^ this - links aren't working & the LP example file won't unzip properly... throws an error.

This tutorial is nearly two years old. Wondering if this is still relevant? Especially regarding the size of the lander being 750x457. It seems like most of the landers I am seeing now are much larger than this.
