Forgive me if this is old news. But today I came across a search result in google that made me a little confused.
If you look here:

The second "video link" went to a lyrics site, not to a video (I checked the site).
How the heck did they do that?
there is a video on the page when I pull it up. It looks likes its embedded so maybe it just didn't load for you...
I'd be curious to know the CTR of a video result compared to a text result. Also whether a hidden embedded video would still show up as a video result.
Well spotted. Adding embedded videos to the webpage could increase CTR. Winnah!
use embedded videos and make sure you setup video sitemaps.
Then just add some backlinks and your good to go in many cases.

CTR is better for other mid page ranking pages. Ive not seen it beat rank 1 CTR though when the title of the page is relevant to the search query.
Its most likely using Google's new "Author" feature that you set up in your Google Profile. It will display your profile pic in the SERPS. Its very easy to manipulate the image that shows up - just change your profile pic.
There's a good help file on Google's webmaster page
It isn't using the author feature. They're putting their videos in a video sitemap that google indexes and puts in search results as relevant. Be aware that if they choose to put the video link on the page, your standard text link will no longer show in the SERPs. It's either or, I tested it a year or so back and didn't find any upside (difficult to test rigorously though...)- particularly as google tends to rank the videos lower on the page, so if you had a #1 SERP with text, you typically decline to say #5 depending on the term with the video SERP.
