will this work from namecheap $1.99 a year? I ask becuase other ssl certs are 60-80.
I have tried the free one where you have to do some leg work and I am not that techy (yet)
Trying to save a few bucks on the ssl here.
Thanks for the help.
If not what is a cheap easy way to get a domain with ssl cert. Thanks
I have beyond hosting and CPY lab. Those boys are awesome I just want to hand off the domain and let them set it up.
I use that and it works fine, you can just give tyler or beyondhost ur login to namecheap or wtv and have them do it if you want!
If it's just for having an https pixel then the $1.99 positive SSL cert is fine. I've bought lots of them and have used them for landers and things too - as long as you set them up properly you rarely get issues. The more expensive ones offer higher % compatibility with visitors/browsers and the 'green bar' effect where the address bar changes to indicate a high level of trust/security.
The process of installing an SSL cert involves generating keys and signing requests, copy and pasting things back and forth, etc. It's pretty easy but if you've never done it before just get Tyler or someone to do it and you're fine. Perhaps ask them to write down the exact procedure they went through for future reference, i.e. 1: logged into cpanel and did this, 2: generated key for domain X in cpanel section Y, blah blah.
Thanks for the help. I got it done today and beyond hosting was very helpful. Picked up an ssl cert from cheappssls.com and beyond hosting got it up for me.
The campaign just went live.
I am getting myself confused where do I see the keyword activiity? I see 3 uniques on my cpv lab but I run a report on lead impact and there is no activity. I think I remember lead impact not updating until the day after but I swear you guys are making keyword adjustments on the fly. I think the keyword reporting is on CPV lab right?
Thanks for hand holding a newb here I will be up to speed soon.
I am using a postback URL and think I did it correctly. this network does not do pixels. Tomorrows campaign I will get up on pixel firing.
@zeno : are you using SSL for hiding the referer ?
So is this ssl cert slowing my page load time and also are some getting errors etc? compatibility?
@ hd2010, nah I just had SSL on my tracking domain for when https pixels were required and on a few landers just for the hell of it + testing.
@ cashdoctor, going via https will always result in increased load times due to the handshake required, but it isn't really worth considering unless you are dealing with something very load time sensitive like PPV or mobile. Compatibility/errors are unlikely, i.e. very small percentage of visitors, and most people have encountered weird SSL related errors before and will just click ok in their browser and get to your page anyway.
I am doing PPV should I not be using an ssl. Most networks require an SSL cert for pixel firing. What is the work around here?
but the link I provided for my pop up was not https but just http so is that not using the ssl cert then? Sorry very ignorant on this topic (for now)
You will just need an SSL cert for your CPVlab domain so that the CPVlab pixel can be used in https form. Your pop up URLs, landing pages etc don't need https and you should avoid it unless you're trying to cloak referrers.
Cool so even though it redirects through my CPV lab tracking domain the security warning and handshake do not occur. Thanks for the help
