Was running a nice campaign with around 300 ROI, making around 300-400 profit a day, now suddenly after 2 weeks of similar ROI its dropping to like barely %50 percent...
I also split tested a similar offer and it did the same bad epc, so must be the traffic, but I just dont understand since the target im bidding on has like 80-90 percent of the green bar filled in TV so I figured it would last a bit longer?
Any tips with setting freq caps, new landers, etc?
Frequency Caps can make a huge difference, and are crucial in the longevity of a campaign. If you are running on prosper check to filter out real clicks vs all clicks. It will give you an idea of how many people have seen your pops before.
What is your frequency cap set to?
How many targets are you using? Is most of the volume coming from 1 or a few targets?
And obviously new landers can make a huge difference, if your frequency cap is low you are going to need to rotate ads alot more if you have alot of returning vistors. Some of your targets could have alot of returning visitors, like a membership site or one where people return often (forums are a good example) and if your freq cap is too low and they are seeing the same ad over and over you get the picture.
If you have one target with lots of returners but converts well and has volume to justify it worth your time- then you may want to put that target into it's own creative. I have some campaigns with freq caps set at 2 weeks! If it's worth your time rotate ads and take advantage of the targets most worth your time.
The advice above is golden. Frequency caps are so important for sustaining PPV campaigns.
I try to go for high volume targets with the frequency cap set as distant as the network allows. It will shave away at your volume, but much of that volume is purely artificial after the first few days because your ads are popping to the same users.
Judging by your initial stats, 300% ROI on 400 profit per day, it's worth pausing the campaign for a little while - or introducing some freshly tweaked creatives - and then adjusting the frequency cap and going again.
Even if the campaign crashes and burns quickly, it sounds like an awesome catch to have in your portfolio - even if you only run it for a few days a month.
PPV is not dead and I hate people that say that - it's very much alive and I still have many campaigns running. One of my longest lasting, most profitable campaign is Credit Reprot. Make sure you monitor your frequency caps and you'll be OK.
1/72 and 1/168 are usually good to start with and i've found most campaigns last for 1-2 months before starting to slide.
When adjusting the frequency cap after youve been running traffic for a couple of days, how long do you wait to gather the results if the increased frequency cap is working?
