lol. OK ik think the joke has lasted long enough!

Hope you get it!

I think the page is ment to not list any pictures of people scanning QR codes....

As in:

No one does!

Views? Are QR codes a fad? I see them sometimes but I myself have never scanned any, and none of my friends know what they are.

Test it out, .... get one tattoo'd to you dawg, ... then take it out around town... see who scans it

On a serious note, ... if you've got an Android phone, you're probably more likely to have scanned one that with an iPhone.
But, I think all the crazy moniez has already been made from a few WSO's titled the 'WSO Gold Rush" etc.

They are the most overhyped piece of technology on the tech scene. It seems that most companies that use it, because marketing teams want to keep up to date with techcrunch.com or some shiat. I have never actually seen someone scan a QR code in NZ. Nor have I have heard of a company successfully use a QR code with proof.

We tried that STM case study, it failed big time. It wasn't that people didn't convert to the offer, it's just that they wouldn't even scan, people still dont understand it still.

My friends in NZ actually have a company based around QR codes, http://www.rewardjunkie.co/. They find that a big issue for them is simply both merchants and users need to be told exactly how QR codes work.

QR codes are only understood by a tech savvy demo. However they are usually pushed out to the general public.

Maybe I have just experienced a grim side of QR codes. I would love to hear of a success story if there are any.

I admit it, I have scanned a QR code lol. It was pretty cool since the scan took me to a vid of the new roller coaster at my local amusement park which was currently being constructed. But, I agree, too much education to the general public atm to make this a real player to generate leads.

A friend of mine owns a fashion store. I got her to put "Want to know more? Scan the code" signs with QR codes next to each piece of merchandise in the store windows. The codes take you to her website with a different page for each item. Minimal outlay for her. They can view info and buy online. So far she's had 6 sales from it. OK, so 6 sales isn't really ballin' it. But as his average sale is £420. That's not bad. The idea is starting to snowball.

I used them at my old 9-5 I used to work. One aspect of my job there was creating the labels for military grade power converters. We would put the contract codes, model numbers, date code, and any other specific information the customer wanted in a QR code on the label. Then, once we shipped it to them and the customer received it, they would scan it and it would register the model number as received. Pretty much the exact same thing as a barcode except you can put in more information+characters.

I see them used by Taco bell on the soft drinks, and am seeing them pop up in more and more places, but they are all poorly marketed, they NEVER have instructions on what to do, its just this ugly looking block staring at you. Even something simple on the taco bell one like "scan me for a chance to win a free taco today!" and then leading to their contest or something would probably work better.

PPChound nailed it tho with the idea of using it in a store. If a business as an app or mobile website, you could link it to that. Example: A bar in my town is using "scan for a free beer" and it links to a mobile app download. If you download the app and show it to the bartender, they give you a free beer. The app alerts the user of promotions the bar is having, happy hours, drink specials, etc. Get them in the store once, give them something free to download the app, market to them after they leave kinda deal.

I was at an enterprise level event this week. (4 of them infact) Top agency and platforms heads were saying the same. They consider QR codes a 'gimmick' and not worth investing time and money into. Now, Predictive Analytic and Optimization ,as well as, other concepts used in trading and DRM . Those are the HOT topics at the $50k a day + level. traffic levels.

The guys at rewardjunkie did the whole "scan for a free beer" idea at a big sporting event. From an outside perspective you would think, how can that not work? It got around 30 people downloading the app. Definitely not worth the effort.

I guess it is the way you use them. If you have some spare space on a big poster then add a qr at the bottom, sure it's better than white space. There is no reason not to do that.

The idea of having them a store window is nice because you can effectively get people to shop out of business hours.

Using QR codes as a supplement to other marketing channels make senses. Not using it as a main marketing force like online media has talked about it.
