Do you guys find LP engagement is better when offering prizes like iphone/ipad/etc or gift cards?
I'll probably end up split testing both, but I imagine that a $100 gift card to something like amazon might sound more appealing than an iphone/ipad to some users (because of the flexibility of the gift card).
It also sounds a little more realistic. Any thoughts?
"it also sounds a little more realistic"
Thats exactly my thinking, id like to know how stuff like this performs also.
from my experience with coreg, LP engagement is determined on how much the user 1)wants what it is you're offering and/or 2) is a fan of what it is you're offering.
So sure picking a popular product/store can and does work, but the more (and I really don't like this term too much) "outside the box" thinking... the better.
Prize/gift card angles are all over the internet, so sure you can still make money off them if you sell them well enough, but there's a lot more money to be made when you come up with something different.
Some examples that I did well with coreg:
EDIT: Had to remove this angle for another member, sorry, don't want to get any more details as to why. but the bottom one is good :-)
- TV Show/contest Votes. This one did really well and can be scaled to a lot of different angles... users are already texting their vote, so I did a Vote now with XYZ site and be submitted for a chance to also win an XYZ offer.
The more creative you are with your angles the more $$$ you'll be able to pull in
