Alright After having a go with Facebook for a while and having realized that it just was not working for me. Now I am here ready to make it happen with PPV.
So I have got CPVLab and Leadimpact up and running. I have gone thru lots of tutorials to really learn the foundation and the mental mindset behind this traffic. (Thank you Tijn and Stackman you have very useful insights on PPV).
Now after realizing that in PPV it doesn't really take that much to test an offer and as a newbie is best to test offers quick as to spend no more than $5-$10 per offer, I am ready to start testing out offers to see which one will perform best.
I have already tested 2 similar offers across one campaign promoting 1000 Best buy gift cards which didn't end up profiting after spending $19. So I dropped it and now I am about to test 2 different offers, both with a similar offer across another network. so a total of 4 offers are being tested across 2 campaigns.
So for the sake of the follow along I am going to name this the First PPV Campaign to be tested.
here are the Facts for this 30 day challenge to make 1 PPV campaign profitable:
First Campaign: (Video Game gift card) Email/zip Submit-Testing across Peerfly & Maxbounty.
Landing page only
PF Payout: $2
MB Payout: $2.60
Keywords: 20
LP: 1
Traffic source: Lead Impact
CPV: 0.020
Second Campaign: (Restaurant gift card) Email/zip Submit-Testing across Peerfly and Maxbounty.
Landing page only
PF Payout: $1.40
MB Payout: $1.40
Keywords: 20
LP: 1
Traffic source: Lead Impact
CPV: 0.020
As soon I get my keywords approved I will update this page. Please feel free to ask or make any comments.
Now let's make some money now $$$$
Alright today was the second day testing out 4 different offers, 2 being similar but from different Aff network as stated above (30 day follow along):
So today being the second day, these are the facts for the last 2 days.
* This is the link to the Free Gift Card Restaurant offer:
- Although None of the offers have yet had any conversions it seems to me that this campaign is performing poorly since it has not even had as many click on the lander. I should also mention that I made small changes to the landing page on this Campaign.
* This is the link to CPVlab Free Gift card for Games offer:
- This campaign has also not had any conversions yet. However it has gotten more clicks and higher CTR on the lander. I added LP2 with an improved call to action so I am hopping the lander will get more clicks, and higher CTR.
Please please let me know what you think and whether should I post the landers so you can view and give your opinions on these campaigns. I just didn't know whether I should post them.
Cheers and looking forward to learning from this and you.
direct linking or LP?
This is just for LP. That's why I asked if it helps I could post the LPs :-)
Hello Stackers I didn't mean to slack on the follow along but as you guys know there is so much to be done on a daily basis if you are doing this full time and trying to put things together. Anyhow this morning was a bit brighter than the last one yesterday. Since I woke up and saw 2 conversions :-) I know it's not a lot of conversions but its a start!
So I am just gonna go ahead and post everything that I have been doing the last couple days. Please feel free to criticize and fix whatever you see that needs work I will be all ears and appreciate every bit of your opinions : D. Also I realized I hadn't put up my metrics so I'll start with that. here are the facts:
This is my Strategy/Metrics/Entrance and Exit rules, Money and Risk management
1.00-1.40 payout
15-20 targets (add 5-10 more targets if no traffic.) (Targeting brand related URLs thru URL Imploder from affxpert tools)
100 % LP (1-2 altered LP from offer page )
Kill targets after 50% loss and no clicks
Kill targets after 100% loss and conversions
Kill offer after $10 and no conversion and move on to the next offer
- As of know I am running 4 different campaigns, an extra 2 campaigns from the last time I posted since I am launching campaigns on a daily basis as well as learning CSS and learning Coreg as I am really interested to do Coreg soon, I can see its potentials here.
Here are the links to the actual campaigns since their start I am also posting the LPs for their corresponding campaigns for any valuable advice:

Call of duty Balck ops Campaign (Launched March 4):
Apple Ipad Campaign (Launched March 5):
PS: I assume these LPs are not going to be copied and they are solely for learning purposes and to be able to get feed backs from you. I hope you liked the Privacy policy ;-) Cheers guys
OK sorry deeply for not having posted on this follow along for the last few days. I am gonna try to post as often as I can. Spendng 12 hours plus learning coding and making landing pages is no easy task
Thinking of getting the Landing page genius to make things a bit easier, although I am not sure how it works. I'd have to figure it out.
Here is What I have been doing and testing since the last few days:
The LPs I'd uploaded did not do really well for the Ipad offer and the FIFa offer was just not profitable at all. so I will not be posting results for that campaign as I have made some new LPS for it and have submitted some new keywords to that campaign . Once it gets some traffic I will post thaem.
I know Tijn has emphasized that spending more than $10 dollars on a non-profitable campaign is not good. but since I saw 2-3 conversions, I decided to make some LPs and add new kwds to give it a last try. It seems like making one campaign a day it is much harder to manage than manage 2-3 campaigns and make them profitable. What do you think?
These are results from March 1-10 2012
Dunkin donuts campaign:

LP I used:

This campaign got messed up a bit cause for some reason CPV would not load the LP and I would get an error massege so I had to delete the LPs and reload them in a different place but the 2 conversions are from LP4. It just doesn't say there cause I reloaded the LPs.
Call of duty
This campaign also for some reason was showing a bazillion views which had not had on the LPs. Not sure how that happened but I posted the results there. LP1 did better than LP2 obviously. I do not have the exact number of views sorry.

LPs I used:

So this does seem like it has take longer than it should have from what I have seen on Tijn's video he took about 4-5 days to optimize his Campaigns to start getting positive ROI.
So this tells me that I have to be faster in testing keywords and testing a different variety of LPs. I might also not be doing a good job finding relevant Urls and kwds. I have tried to follow Tijns advice and have been using the Scrape URL tool plus using the related Url tools to gather new and better performing URLs. Mayb I am doing something wrong?
I will keep posting the result for the new LPs I have made and please please feel FREE to make any kind of comment you want. If you don't comment I don't learn.
cheers
Goals for this PPV Follow Along campaigns are gonna be aimed at getting:
LP CTR: 10%
CR:25 %
ROI: 100 % (or closest to)
with a CPV of: 0.02
Still waiting for new kwds to get approved. Hmm I wonder if LI does even approve campaigns on weekends :- / as far as the other campaigns, I have only had one conversion from the call of duty campaign. It seems like all the other targets are dying or don't have a lot of volume for some reason? who knows...
Your CTA button is not in the viewable area of the popup! I highly suggest you to have the CTA in the first 350px of the landingpage so people will see the button every time. This will surely boost your CTRs.
Awsome thanks for the tip I will try that and post back the results...LI has just approved a new set of Kwds..
So far I am still trying to figure out why my Landers aren't performing as good as I expected. And just as all the PPV experts said, it is all about testing different verity of LPs, Targets, offers and approaches. So after today's testing which I will be posting tomorrow I am planning to take an angle with the offer that did best since the beginning of the Follow along. Perhaps one offer --->Angles ---> Laser targeting and True or False Quiz?
Also after reading http://finchsells.com/2010/05/13/too...-sea-with-ppv/ by Finch I came across some ideas that seem to be more cost effective than brand name bedding. So far I have spent $180 in testing and have tested 5-6 offers with only about $20 conversion.
Here are the results of yesterdays testing:
This is Call of duty campagin LP1 with Intro pop and LP2 with timer. ( for some reason timer and intro pop would not work together)

-here are the stats and the lander LP2 for this Dunkin donut campaign which includes the count down timer. LP 3 is same as this but instead of timer only with the intro pop. Reason why I didn't include the Timer with intro pop was cause every time I added counter to intro pop timer stopped working. Anyone know why that could be?

This campaign I was watching it live eat up $10 in less than 30 mins. The keyword "Iphone" had 460 views and only 2 conversions. So lots of volume but not converting a lot. It was fun to watch the conversions come in even though it wasn't a lot
Btw this one only 1 LP and had no counter or intro pops. though I added those today and I am testinf them today. so far not much trafiic tho. Really strange I had tons of vies yesterday and nothing today

Next I am gonna set up some landers with their Call to action more centered to see ifI can get better CTR/ROI. Will post todays results tomorrow. And tomorrow gonna try launching few different angles for the best performing Campaign. Please let me know what you think and whether you think I am doing anything wrong won't take anything personal don't be afraid to aggressive, I need to learn as much as I can:-)
Btw this landing page building is sooooo time consuming. I was thinking about getting Landing page Genius... does anybody recommend that?
Hey dude,
Have you read the book Cashvertising....A few of the senior people on here talked about, so I got myself a copy and just finished reading it this morning....It's sooooo applicable to PPV advertising. They have an awesome section on creating compelling titles...If I was you I would test asking questions, against what you're currently doing....ie "Do you want to FREE I-phone 4?"......and then re-iteration of some other benefits....
If you can display any relevant social proof on your landing pages....ie Facebook friends of a "free i-phone type company".....testimonials of people who got free stuff....ect, this will probably help with your conversions as well...
Might be a bit much to fit on a small pop, but could be worth having a play around..
thanks man,
I have written the name of the book and I will try to get it as soon as I can to check it out. I'll also give the social proof a try..that was a good point I'd totally forgotten about the testimonials..
Ok so as of now I having testing quite a bit of offers and will only post the ones that I am going to be optimizing. So far these are the offers I've ran and the outcome of them:
Ipad:
Clicks:0
LP CTR: 0
Conversion:0
here is the LP. This one has the call to action at the bottom.

This is the one I will be testing tomorrow with the call to action in the more visible area (as one of the members suggested in this follow along) plus the intro pop and another color for the header with its second version.

I am submitting new LPs and should have new numbers soon. Hope fully with more conversions :-P I'll also post new LPs for the other offers I am running tomorrow.
Please leave your comments and let me know what you think. There are more testing coming baby till I make it happen.
As of now my goal is to reach $100 profit for one day and keep adding offers that perform and are long lasting and higher in profit.
This is actually one campaign that I have my hopes on: it's had 2 conversions today and spent $4.74. Will be testing 2 diferent LP veriations tomorrow hopefully get a better LP CTR and conversion.
Name Views Up Cost Revenue EPV PPV P/L ROI
Iphone 4S 237 $4.74 $3.20 $0.014 ($0.006) ($1.54) (-32.49%)
Hey everyone. It's been pretty stressing lately, hence I tried many offers and even tried to branch out and test every offer with 2 different angles. however I still have not gotten any good results. Few conversions here and there ....however I am not giving up... I think I am not doing enough research to dig deeper and find the right kwds/Urls. Why is it not convertingggggg
I would really appreciate if anyone who is experienced could give a hand and point me out in the right direction.
Here are the last 4 landing pages I have used for The Iphone offer:
Strategey: (Survey Lander) targeting Miley cyrus and Justin Beiber.
Here are the stats for the 3 days that I ran this specific campaign with 2 alike offers:
For some weird reason I was getting shit load of clicks on the first LP but no conversions. It died off though You think it could have been misleading?
Maybe I should be rotating offer more often??
Wonder what the I am doing wrong... I would love Any feedback from you guys .

Also I was trying some Laser targeting but some Long URLs wont be accepted by LI. How can one do laser targeting if the page where consumer chooses product is long and can't be added to LI Kwds????
Hi there Tony,
You might have already seen it, but I know tjinn has an awesome tutorial in here somewhere about targeting search engine dynamic URL's..So for example when you type a search query in Google if you look in the URL it will be formatted in a way with that keyword query in it.....So you could target search engine strings that have your product keywords / buying keywords in them.
Ollie
Thanks for the heads up oliver. i tried looking for the thread but couldn't find it. Could you post it here If by chance you know which one it is
Edit: Never mind I found it :-)
Hi tony,
try split test direct link to the offers, i made good conversion dl on peerfly
Hi Tony.
It`s not about your campaign but you might find this tip useful.
Hide yo shit (c) Mr.Green
Hey dude,
I've tried searching as well and for some reason I can't find it either. The jist of it was bidding on URL dynamic queries, like Googles, but including Buyer keywords...You could probably do the same in Amazon ect...
I came across these threads about targeting / bidding, looking for the other one. If you haven't already seen these I'm sure they'll be helpful

Cheers, thanks for the tip Ollie
Little update here on my follow along. Things have been a little bit all over the place and I ventured out to try some penny auction campaigns on PPV.
So Been testing two penny Auction offers (on LI) in one Campaign as per Maynzies Case study. Pop >Offer
So far I've tested 6 LP variations and I've had 2000 views (burnt $35), 21 clicks and no conversions :-/. This clearly tells me that there is some kind of interest but people are not converting for some weird reason.
However 21 clicks are pretty low for 2000 views no?
The LP seems nice but mayb it could be that I didn't make a 2nd lander after the pop? but still ppl didn't click thru that much anyways no? agrrrr so frustration gotta get it to work....
If anyone can make a suggestion as to what I might be doing wrong would appreciate
Here are the two latest landers I am testing for this offer at the momment. They both have 50/50 CTR (pretty LOW) of about 1.18 and 1.21%.
Both landers look messed up for me on IE 8. They look a little better on firefox, but still messed up slightly. Just FYI
Thanks for the tip. It is showing fine on firefox for me. But I guess I should have checked on IE. Wonder why the hell it's doing that
You'll get something working Tony keep that PMA up
Just trying to find out why LPs are showing fine on firefox and f***ed up on IE
You could get someone on fiverr.com to fix your pages pretty quickly.
PS did you ever hide your shit? I'm trying to hide my shit right now and about to write a post for help.
Hey Tony,
I'm using Google Chrome and the landing page is looking busy....It's quite hard to read the text...also is it meant to be overlaid over the images?
Ollie
@Rockstar John: thanks John that's actually the route I took :-) I did hide my shit, thank god someone pointed out otherwise...Look up Tijn's post on this, very helpful:
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...hlight=protect
@Oliver: I know man. lol the LP was not meant to be seen that way. I just got it fixed by someone else. what a pain in the butt that was fixing...
Quick update:
ATM just doing research and throwing up a Financial related campaign. Time to make this shit happen man. Goal is $100 profit per day to start with.
These are my metrics for this specific campaign:
Offer Payout: $30.25
CR: 25
CTR: .09%+
ROI: 100%
CPV: 0.015-0.02
# of targets: 50
# of offers: 2
# of LPs: 3
Est. length of time of offer: Lots of cap left on it
- Campaign Testing budget: $30.25
- LP Teting: 500 views and kill if NO click throughs. Otherwise optimize till I find a definite winner.
- If LP has little click throughs after that Use online Calculator.
- Kill targets after $10-$15 offer payout and no conversions.
Don't get me wrong, but you are making the same mistakes I have been making - moving too fast and with no plan from one offer/industry to another. I have not figured things out yet either, but you need to concentrate on one thing and not jump around as much. If certain things are working for other people, they can work for you, too (and me of course, too). I am not shy of having too many excuses either and I hate myself for it. :-(
Hi there Tony,
Have you seen this thread by bbrock32 about PPV landing pages http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...Tricks-PART-1? It's an awesome thread packed with info on PPV landing pages.
Ollie
Alright, I can say now that I am getting closer and closer to having a profitable campaign without any profits. lol yes I know it sounds absurd but all I can say is that all this money that I am losing is helping me learn the process and gather the data I need to make this really work and use it for my future profitbale campaigns "hopefully"
.
Ok going right down to the stats there are two offers I am working on;
1. One Bizz opp offer directly thru the advertiser
2. One Credit Report Offer split across two different networks.
Campaign Stats:
Bizz OPP (started Apr19th):
POP>Offer (offer has LP1>LP2>sales page)
Offer Payout: $20
# of LPs: 3
LP 1 (CTR: 1.22%) (15 clicks) (1,226 views)
LP 2 (CTR: 0.71%) (5 clicks) (704 views)
LP 3 (CTR: 1.52%) (11 clicks) (725 views)
CR: 0
ROI: -100%
CPV: 0.025
# of targets: 30
# of offers: 1
- Campaign Testing budget: $200 ($20 per kwd = 1 time the offer payout more or less)
- Thoughts:I am not going to lie. But it's really frustrating not even having one conversion after putting in all the hard work. I also got some inspirations from some other LPs I saw on Bizz Opp. Not sure what the problem is maybe I need to add an extra Lp after the pop b4 the offers LPs. Tho I think it'd make the process too long????
I guess I'll spend $200 and then drop the offer if it doesn't convert for me.
Credit Report (started Apr16th):
POP>Offer
Offer Payout: $30
# of LPs: 3
LP 1 (CTR: 1.22%) (13 clicks) (1,873 views)
LP 2 (CTR: 0.71%) (10 clicks) (1,871 views)
LP 3 (CTR: 1.52%) (0 clicks) (354 views) -deleted-
CR: 0
ROI: -100%
CPV: 0.025
# of targets: 25-30
# of offers: 2
- Campaign Testing budget: $200 ($15-$20 per kwd = 0.5-1 time the offer payout more or less)
- Thoughts:
- for some reason (obvious reasons that I've never had a profitable campaign) I also haven't managed to get any convs on this campaign either. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Please suggest anything u can think...cause I am outta ideas. I made 3 lps and also tested the offer DL. I've been told that I should make an LP after the pop but haven't really figured out what kind I should make. Did a bit of Spying but nothing that could relate to my offers.
Here are the LPs screenshots. Please don't copy I am only posting for training and feedback purposes and these are not winning lps at all
thanks in advance for all of you that have followed me in this follow along and helped me to get to where I am today which is far as far as learning goes
. Really thankful and hope I can give back some day.

Hmm... you say your campaign budget is about $20/keyword. However, you are split-testing each KW between 3 landers - if so, you need to spend more to see if this works.
Also, have you tried a lower payout offer? It might convert much better.
Yeh good point...techically I would have to test each kwd for $60 (bizz opp offer) but it's just too much for me to spend testing this offer...maybe test $30 each...tho with 20 kwds that would end up being $600 total...right now Ive got 19 clicks on LP1, 11 clicks on Lp2 and 6 clicks on LP but o conversion. Should I start optimizing LP1 or not cause I haven't got a converison I wonder????
PS: CTR on LP1 today is a bit higher; 3.33%
You've too few clicks, dude.
Come back again when you've 100-150 clicks.
And your LP is weak. Be more aggressive.
One way to do so is to start thinking about how to make your LP non-compliant -- something that would really get the FTC watching over you -- because many times, that's what converts best.
Once you get the hang of it, do some editing/modification to make yr LP compliant.
@ goapple:hey thanks for the advice. Tho what do u mean come back when You have 500 clicks??? can you elaborate a bit....are you saying to drop the LPs I have cause according to your experience they seem weak and test something more aggressive?
Thanks for explaining that makes sense
so try getting inspiration from catchy landers are best..Umm lately I'v come across so many Squeeze pages/Landers that have the opt in form. Many also say to start building a list so that's also something I thought I incorporate into the lander..at least if they don't convert I will have a subscriber lead
JV giveaways is a good way to grow your list too from what I've read
Hey tonyt2929,
If I was you I wouldn't worry too much about list building at the moment. That's a whole other discipline, a good one....but there are going to be a massive amount that you'll have to learn...and put in place that will take your energy away from making your existing PPV ventures profitable.
If you did go down the listbuilding route there would still be elements that you'd have to put in place in your content, that is currently missing from your PPV landing pages..SUCH AS..
1) Stressing the NUMBER 1 benefit landing pages. In both of your Credit score PPV landing pages there is no explicit benefit stated to the customer. You should think about it from the customers perspective and imagine them saying "SO WHAT"...ie in your last landing page the text is "Get your credit score before getting that car loan. Only for $1"....There is no benefit here to the customer about why they should get a credit check.....What will getting a credit check actually do for them....Try and think about the TOP benefits that the consumer will get from getting a credit check before buying a car and then use this in your ad copy.
This is an awesome thread dude, I think you're close to getting your first consistently profitable campaigns with PPV.
