When picking landing page urls. Do you guys pick something close to the offer page or something generic? Also how much of an affect does that have on the user? ex: say they click add and when the lp comes up and the url doesn't match the url of the offer page. Can you mask this?
if the url is part of the ad, like in ppc where the visitors can see it, than it matters. in terms of ctr it will make a difference having www.MeetSingles.com/New-York vs www.genericdomain.com. i don't think it matters if the address bar doesn't match with the offer on the page, but the excepton might be encountered when dealing with people with good computer skills
for testing offers you can buy a short domain and then make subdomains, if it looks promising you can search for a related domain, it's only $8-9/year.
