The Ideal Affiliate Meetup?

1. Whats your image of the perfect affiliate meetup?
Good Speakers?
Free Alcohol?
Exclusive Location?
Limited Members?
Networking games?

2. The best thing that you've seen/done/etc.. at a meetup?

This will benefit STM members sometime in 2012!

1)
-Free Alcohol +1
-An exclusive short-seminar of some sort covering an important topic / future of affiliate marketing / where people are headed / what they should focus on in the coming months, years / most important lessons learned from building a business (i.e. dealing with taxes the right way)
-A location that allows under 21yr olds to attend so Maynzie can be there... :P

2) Never been to a proper meetup.. just ASW earlier this year where I popped into the STM party briefly...

Being 18, this is the most important thing for me.

Free alcohol and free hookers.

Speaking of exclusive locations: a few affs from Europe wanted to have a small meetup at Tomorrowland later in July. I might be there as well if I can make it.

My idea of a great meetup... probably to accidentally bump in to an affiliate in some dimly lit pub in London surburbia.

All this talking shop over hookers, and casinos, in gigantic crowds of purebred sausagefest... it just isn't my style.

I like meetups at pubs where the impetus is less on business, and more on communal festering in to a pint and a dodgy burger. Maybe someone will say something about affiliate marketing eventually, but there should never be an agenda, and certainly not a point.

That's the problem with Affiliate Summit in my opinion. I like to forget that I'm an affiliate marketer, whereas Affiliate Summit tries to ram that piece of knowledge down my throat.

There should be a meet-up for affiliates who are sick of talking about affiliate marketing, sick of explaining it to friends, sick of helping family to fail at it miserably, sick of affiliate managers spamming the shit out of their inboxes over it. Just a gathering where everybody gets together and pretends to have day-jobs. I'll sign up for that.

This is called walking into a bar! No signups needed

My favorite type of events are always ones with fun activities! Which is why i enjoy the fun/competitive comradery of beer pong (last STM event). I've tinkered with the idea of a dodgeball tournament, but there's a bit of confusion with that concept (and not the best for networking).

Any alone time with BBrock would be heaven for me.

Depends on the purpose of the meetup, I guess.

If I'm there to do business, I have no interest in being surrounded by drunken fools the entire time. I'd rather just talk to them on the phone when they're sober.
If I'm there to have fun and/or "network" solely, then ... well, I probably won't be there, actually.

The most important things for me in any case are a good location and a limited number of people, preferably with a list of who's attending ahead of time.

I don't go to events like ASW anymore as it ends up being just me wading through the clogged aisles of the venue, trying to find someone in an enormous building, and eventually ends up with me just being annoyed and wondering why I came in the first place.

However, I'm definitely looking forward to the a4d meetup in a few weeks. From what I've heard of how it's run, that's the way I think meetups oughtta be.

Nailed it in Melbourne for me haha, beers and good people, just this time actually be able to hold a conversation, but like dodgeball, go karting or something like that never goes astray though haha!

"Networking games" is new... never seen or participated in any, but it sounds like a lot of fun! Could be a nice icebreaker so that affiliates aren't clumped up into little groups that know each other.

Maybe a speed dating type of game? Either way, having a room full of STM'ers is enough to make a great meet-up. Always nice to interact with people in person, instead of through a message box.

while reading the thread in my head i was thinking: paintball, paintball. then i saw dans post =] seconded!

i've found that its hard to find guys with the same mindset as stackers, so definitely anything competitive will be fun times.

coming from a more intermediate perspective i do also like getting the occasional expert knowledge bomb dropped on me by the big ballers.
