I just got this from jing today
Dear Jing Pro Subscriber,
Here at TechSmith, our mission is to continually help our customers communicate more effectively.
To make sure we keep offering the best options for our customers, we have decided to discontinue our Jing Pro yearly subscription option. But don't fret—the free version of Jing isn't going anywhere.
As we looked at customer requests about Jing Pro, we realized that the newest version of Snagit was the best tool to address the main concern—an end to the 5 minute video recording limit. Plus, with Snagit you have the freedom to blur sensitive information, scroll long webpages or documents, and enhance your screenshots like never before.
We'd like to thank all of our current Jing Pro customers by offering to extend your subscriptions at no charge so you can continue to use it until February 28, 2013, regardless of your expiration date. Beginning February 28, 2013 all Jing Pro subscriptions will revert to the free version of Jing.
Plus, as further thanks for being such a loyal Jing Pro user over the years, we're offering you an amazing deal on the new Snagit. You can now get Snagit for the upgrade price—that's 50% off the original price! And with Snagit there are no yearly subscriptions, you only have to pay once.
Simply enter the promotion code below before you complete your purchase to get Snagit at the upgrade pricing.
Use Promo Code: JINGPRO to get Snagit at 50% off
If you would like to learn about the new features in Snagit, check them out here.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, contact us. We'd love to hear from you.
Sad as I loved that product....still have the free version but it wont be the same....
BUT they have improved snagit which is even better......I would def consider upgrading or buying 11 if you haven't yet....its a awesome piece of software
snagit rocks! been using it for years
Yeah, the new features make it well worth $25. (Price after the discount code PolarBacon provided.)
I'll say, thought, it's not really intuitive getting things set up, but once you figure it out, it is really powerful.
Some of the features I really like:
+ Snagit Once Click - Essentially a replacement for the Jing quick select sun icon (or, whatever it was called), but it is way more versatile.
+ Ability to define and save custom snag profiles - You can combine any input method (i.e., whole screen, defined size, etc.) with any output location (e.g., save to disk, send to evernote, upload to screencast.com, etc.)
+ Ability to define automatic custom file names (e.g., snag-YYYY.MM.DD.HH.MM.SS)
Here are some tips I picked up through trial and error that will help in getting up to speed on the new version:
+ Turn on OneClick. (It is off by default.) Also, you can drag it to any edge of your screen location you want.
+ Clean up the default profiles. I deleted everything except the 3 main capture profiles. Then I went into File >> Organize Profiles" and deleted the groups "Time Savers" and "From Snagit 10" leaving only Capture Profiles and My Profiles.
+ Use the buttons at the upper right to make new profiles and save changes you make in profiles.
+ If you create a custom file name, save the format in, e.g., Evernote! Every time you create a new profile, you have to re-create it. It is easier just to cut and paste than to click all of the options.
For example: <Prefix><Year4>.<MonthNum>.<DayNum>-<Hour24>.<Minute>.<Second>
You can get additional profiles (e.g., Save to Evernote) here:
