So, I just signed up to SiteScout and I am getting ready to start my first campaign. I will be setting up a follow along so that I can get feedback and guidance from those of you who are willing to help (all help is appreciated!
), however, here's my dilemma:
I did go through the newbie step-by-step guide and I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning reading so that I could make sure I had a clear idea of what I needed to do. I believe that this may be a very simple and silly question which is why it had not been asked.
When I am creating banners for display ads, should I put the offer logo on my banners? The reason I ask this is because I was reading Mr. Greens blog and he stated to have multiple offers targeting a demographic.
Additionally, I am wanting to pursue a couple of different things, like physical products that are listed on the CPA networks. Is this wise when dealing with Sitescout? I have found a site on Sitescout that I want to target and the demos of the site match my offer EXACTLY. I know I shouldn't put all my eggs in one basket with this one offer, but I have to start somewhere.
Lastly, I read THIS post by Dr. Sitescout, and he stated that leadgen is what is doing best on sitescout, but that offers with a payout less than $6 aren't going to do that great. I know that a lot of you guys in various threads stated that newbies should start with payouts less than $10, but I guess i'm not seeing the correlation.
I'm SINCERELY tired of reading, I'm ready to take action. I've been very risk averse the past 5 years after losing my pants in the mortgage market, but I am willing to jump headfirst into this and make it win. I have a years worth of bill money in the bank, and an additional $10k to start my campaigns, am I off to a good start?
Thank you guys in advance!
A fair number of sites on SiteScout will reject unbranded banners. You can check any particular site easily enough by selecting it and clicking Pub Details - if it says Unbranded Offers under denied ad types, you'll need to stick either the offer logo or url on your banners.
As to what works, assume nothing, test everything. Personally I've had more success with sub $6 payout offers on there than larger payout offers, but someone else will likely have had the opposite experience. One advantage with lower payout offers is you can generally test and get data with a lower budget, which is important if you're just starting out. Main thing is to pick an offer you understand and can figure out how to sell, and get started.
Having some branded versions of your banners isn't a bad idea. Our system automatically maps the attributes of banners to the denied ad types of each publisher. By having your banners classified as "non-branded", it will almost certainly limit the amount of sites on which you get approved.
ive had luck with 1.30 offers on sitescout, its def .true assume nothing , test everything.
Thank you all for your responses. I believe that you're right, the best thing to do is to just start testing to see what works. I am scared like hell, but I am ready to get started.
I am about to post another thread for my follow along, and I will keep everyone updated.
Thanks so much for your responses!
Good luck Jennifer! Set your bids low to start, will help mitigate overspending your daily budget.
Good luck! I would recommend sticking to a SINGLE traffic source when your starting out OR a SINGLE offer that you KNOW works, and have seen working somewhere else.
Just browse the internet for a while, find an offer thats advertised that has an affiliate program attached to it, and try to make it work, or even slightly profitable.
- test everything
Youll lose money no doubt, but if you approach it scientifically you become profitable.
