Cutter's Mobile Grant Campaign (Contest)

Intro: I have had success with mobile grant submits in the past. But I would use the WEB version of the submits. I was getting around 50% to 100% ROI on good days. Nothing really that great. Now I have seen a few "Mobile Optimized" grant submits that I want to try.

Offers:

I decided to focus only on "Mobile Optimized" grants offers. I could only find the two.

Offer: Stimulus Grant Approval
Network: NB
Payout: $1.70
Comments: According to the offer page "Converts on 4 field form submit". The LP may just be a shorter version with only 3 fields or the pixel might fire after the second page is complete which is 5 fields. I have used a similar WEB offer that I used for mobile a few months ago with average success. But this particular offer looks simple enough that a mobile user will fill it out.

Offer: LESKO Government Grants - Long Form
Network: OfferMobi
Payout: $1.30
Comments: This offer looks horrible. It hurts my eyes if I look at it too long. Apparently you fill out this form and get a free government grants ebook. That uses the crazy guy Lesko you see on late night TV. The form to me asks to many questions. And then has a check box for a PrePaid Mastercard. I guess you have to make some money on the backend. I wouldn't expect much from this offer. I just would like to at least test it out.

Stimulus Grant Approval has a $.50 payout advantage and has a shorter form for conversion than Lesko. I will test both offers using a 50/50 rotator. Then after maybe like a few thousand clicks will determine a winner (even though it's pretty obvious which one has a better shot).

Tracking: Prosper 202, I completely realize that I will lose clicks and DLing would have more clicks recorded. But I want to make sure I track all the real clicks and all the other clicks. Then compare what the network has recorded. Since the network really only records "unique" ip clicks.

Ad Network: Ad Mob, I'm not really too fond of Ad Mob but I have had good success in the past with the network. And have not used them since they got rid of all the minimum bids. I may start adding additional networks when I build up some data using neverblue's advanced tracking. So I can optimize off some handsets.

Ads:

I will only be using this ad for right now. Why you might ask? This is the exact ad that I used a few months ago and was profitable with. Also I made something like 50 ads that were all the same with Ad Mob and were approved at that time. Which have the prosper links already set. So I can change variables on a campaign to campaign basis.

Targetting: I will broadly target all US handsets. Then I will optimize from there.

Bids: I'm going to start @ .01 then slowly move up to gain more traffic and data.

Budget: Don't really have a budget. But around $25.00 to $100.00 a day.

Final Thoughts: Obviously I would like the campaign to become profitable. But that really isn't my main objective. I just want to show what little changes does to the profitability of a campaign. And try to test all variables to try to find something new about the traffic source i'm using that can help me on other campaigns. Which is way more valuable to me then trying to get one campaign profitable when the info that I learned can help me with all my other campaigns. Learning something new about your traffic source may not help your current campaign but can pay you dividends beyond belief when actually used with other ones. Don't get me wrong I have 8 days to get this campaign profitable and that's what I am going to try to do. But if I am able to increase the negative ROI percentage to near break even. Then that means I can make this campaign profitable.

Just signed up for Air Push. Never even heard of them before few minutes ago. I guess that happens when you're out of the mobile game for a few months. I made a few text ads which i'm waiting for approval. I will start adding other networks as I collect more data and know what to target.

I started this campaign yesterday. So I have a little bit of data to share.

2-22

When I started the campaign I only used Stimulus Grants.

My prosper tracking recorded 514 Unique IP clicks. And 2,895 unique and other clicks that were recorded.

Usually I don't see more "All" clicks than what I see in AdMob. And the click discrepancy of about 50% is pretty common. Most might freak out but a lot of times the network won't record clicks that come from the same IP. Since some carriers use the same IP for multiple cell users. You just have to take that into account. But if you get a lead it will record. The CTR wasn't too bad, the conversion rate was pretty bad. I have gotten this campaign to the .05 to .07 EPC range before. It will just take some time to weed out the bad targets.

Feb. 22nd
Ad Spend: $21.86
Revenue: $5.10
ROI: -77%
