Time to contribute!
This is a campaign I was running in Sweden, Norway and Denmark and it made decent bucks (volume was limited, but very high ROI)! Now it's time for you guys to scale to different countries.
The concept:
Male oriented campaign I ran on Facebook, which featured a lander pitching how a business card improves your chances when approaching a girl. Offers was Vistaprint and dating.
The Angle:
The idea of the campaign came one day I watched American Psycho and earlier that day heard a couple of guys talking about the book The Game by Neil Strauss. Never read the book, but from what I heard its strategies on how to approach girls! Basically the idea is that all guys should have a business card (even fake ones) if they approach a girl in a bar to maximize the chances!
For you who haven't seen American Psycho: it features a legendary scene including Patrick Bateman and his new business card!
The offers:
Vistaprint has a pretty nice campaign. The user gets 250 business cards and a cardholder sent to his address for like $6 (only shipping). The payout was about $13. Make sure the cookie last 14+ days!
I was cross-selling Be2 dating campaign.
The lander:
Flog styled lander which features screenshots of the order process at Vistaprint, photos of the receipt, photos of the business cards, video of the Patrick Bateman scene as above etc. I made a few fake business cards and I did order it through Vistaprint to make it trustworhy.
In my split tests I found that the ad copy is very important for this campaign. Include numbers and a few references on how business cards triples your chances etc. I tried a few fnews LP, but it didn't work. Keep the flog design simple and not too fancy, think the good old "Mark got ripped in 4 weeks"-style. I was cross-selling dating sign ups, which was a nice bonus, but main income was Vistaprint.
Targeting:
As mentioned above I only ran this campaign on Facebook targeting 18-24 males. Use keywords like American Psycho, Patrick Bateman, popular soccer team names etc. The best converting creatives was proven dating images.
I won't say it's bulletproof, but it's hard to not to succeed with this! Do your tweakings and make it your own!
Very interesting concept dude. I like your creativity.
Questions:
Why did you decide to target popular soccer team names? So you can make your ads more targeted, or you knew they were proven converters?
Why didn't you scale to US, CA, UK? You have the campaign set up to run.
Cheers.
The volume for directly related keywords was limited in these countries so I had to broaden the keywords. I guess soccer dudes like approaching girls with business cards
Well, it was on my todo a few months ago to scale, but never got to it. I have been focusing on long term campaigns lately, started a webshop etc. Simple as that.
This is indeed very interesting angle. Once again this has proven that high ROI campaigns often come from original concepts! Great work!
kudos for being creative, AND taking it into actions. most of us (including me) miss the latter part...
That is 1 crafty angle!
Sucks it didn't work in larger countries, even Germany could have been a big hit compared to the 3 Scandinavian coutntries
Seriously smart tactic, must've been one hell of a good copywriting job for that lp!
Thanks!
Anyone adopted this concept into other countries?
Thx for sharing. Great scheme.
