5$ a day with click2sms
Hey,
I've been following the tutorial and testing click2sms offers and I guess I got lucky with an offer in the China GEO. It immediately converted and jumped at one point to 180% ROI, which I thought was amazing. I've been now testing higher bids and things are working well. I just have trouble really scaling the offer. I tried using "Brokered Traffic" on Propellerads, but there were no conversions. I'm trying other traffic sources, but so far no success. It seems the traffic on Propellerads is very particular...

Very nice! It's not easy to find offers that convert well for this geo. Congratulations!
Is this pop or push traffic? And how many other sources have you tried?

@vortex I've been using exclusively Pop traffic for now. I would like to try out push but I'm not sure if it works for direct linking? Don't you need a landing page for that?
I've tried 3 other sources so far, with no luck. I've recently added clickadu, but In can't get any traffic at all there. I got like 95 Impressions in 24 hours. But I'm trying out different sources still.

Push can work for direct-linking as well! Depends on the offer.
Clickadu's inventory stats show that 59 971 clicks are available for China. Maybe check your targeting again to make sure you're not inadvertently restricting traffic somewhere? Also try higher bids.
Tagging @
twinaxe here as well as he knows push traffic inside out.

Just a headsup. You might wanna look at other Affiliate Networks down the line, as HAKA is known for not paying affiliates on time or at all since the last few months. You can easily find other threads about this issue on STM.

It depends.
Download/Captcha offers often work good direct linked whereas sweeps better need a landing page.

It's basically a page where to User has to "Validate that he is human" by sending an SMS. I tried running push but I wasn't sure what to use as the description for the creative and I think I messed up, because I got no impressions and no clicks at all.

Ok, so it´s a captcha offer

Seriously, you can use almost anything there.
If you are unsure what to use you could try a text like
Title: 1 New Message
Description: Your download is ready

Can i use this thread to ask a question regarding the offers you guys discuss above, because i run the same click2sms offers. What is te purpose of download offer. I understand that when the user clicks the download button an sms is sent and conversion is fired, but what he actually downloads in the end? Similiar question about captcha offers, why should someone want to verify that she/he is human? What is for the user if he performs desired action? As general i try to understand what would motivate te user to click the button of the offer.

I don't know what the user will download and I also don't know what happens after the user "verifies" that he's human.
As general i try to understand what would motivate te user to click the button of the offer.
Don't think about it too much.
If you run the campaigns on pop traffic your ad will be shown on many donwload related websites and if you run on push just tell the users that their "download" is ready.
The user then already expects something to download, that's why download offers work good.
With the captchas it's even easier.
Users are used to verify captchas so they just do it.

@ivelin29 I think you shouldn’t mind here what otivate the user to send sms, because, I think it depends on a final product the user is interested to get. If If he’s interested to get access etc, he will send the sms. You just can navigate him during the process.

So this time I got some clicks and 2 conversions. I'm at -40% at the moment, but I'm not sure how to optimze. I decided to cut out the placements with a lot of clicks but no conversions, but not sure if that is the right move...

Awesome! Sounds hopeful!
I would suggest to go through the 40-day guide, specifically the lessons on optimization and how to test bids.
Also, I'm not sure how many ads/landers you've tested. Those would be the big levers that can potentially give you a significant increase in ROI.
And of course, if you can find more offers to split-test, that can be one of the quickest ways to improve ROI.

For proper optimization you need conversions.
Without coversions you can (and should) stop non converting placements and eventually stop the campaign but when you have no conversions you don´t know if the placement is bad or if it´s the offer or LP.
With only 2 conversions you are at -40% so you probably also didn´t receive much traffic yet.
You should check the available volume as well, when there is just no volume available you also don´t need to think about optimization
I decided to cut out the placements with a lot of clicks but no conversions
How many clicks are "
lots of clicks" for you, how much are the placements that you cut in loss and what´s the offer payout?

I cut placements with 15 clicks or more but no conversions. The offer payout is 0.35$ and I'm paying 0.010$ per click.

I cut placements with 15 clicks or more but no conversions.
So you cut placements that are only at $-0.15 in loss?
This is too early, let them run for at least 1 x payout when you only have 1 offer and no LPs to splittest.
With more offers and more LPs you need to spend even more.
Don´t make the mistake to "optimize" your campaign to death.

So I let the push ads run and I've now got about 10 conversions total with today being my best day at 4. But I'm still in the minus. Right now at -30%, yesterday it was -70%. I'm not quite sure how to proceed. If I lower the bid, I might get less conversions, if I raise the bid I might get more conversions, but the negative spread could increase. There are a few placements that I can cut, because they are as expensive as one conversion. I believe that thats very significant. Can you guys help me how to proceed here?

It´s hard to give good support without more details.
Please tell your exact targeting and it would also help if you could post screenshots from the stats.
If you only tested 1 offer and no landing pages it´s enough when you could show the stats for placements.
If you run more offers or if you added landing pages to the mix please also show stats for offers and LPs.

So I've ran the ad today, got 4 conversions at -40% and 17 conversions at -45% in total.
I've ran both classic push and in-page push, but only in-page push seems to convert. I can get barely any placements on classic. I run only on propeller ads, not brokered traffic and target "high" on user activity. The ad runs in China, exclusive on mobile, exclusive on IOS, Google Chrome and UC Browser are excluded, connection is only 3G/LTE. I do not collect anything for retargeting and I run every hour. The Creative is "(1) One New Message" - Your Download is Ready and I use a mail symbol with a red 1 next to it. Clicks are capped at 1 per 24 hours.
I've made some screenshots below.

The first one is the stats from today.

This one shows the placements from today.

This one shows the stats for the campaign in total.

And this one shows the placements in total. I have cut some placements there as they were not converting. I hope I did the right thing.
I hope this information helps clarify everything going on with my campaign.

exclusive on IOS
Classic Push is not available on iOS
Google Chrome and UC Browser are excluded
What % of the traffic is from Chrome.
You run the campaign on iOS so the most volume is probably coming from Safari but would be great to get some numbers to see how much of an impact it makes when you exclude Chrome.
On Android Chrome can bring (depending on the campaign) up to 95% of the traffic.
When you then have to exclude Chrome the campaign is probably not worth it.
If a small browser with only few 5 of the traffic doesn´t convert it´s no problem.
That´s why it would be great to know how much traffic was coming from Chrome.

On Classic iOS is not exclusive, but I've removed chrome from the ban list on classic, as you said most of the android traffic comes from chrome. To be honest, I ran the same offer on pop and Chrome was running huge negatives so I blocked and I copied the block list over to push. My most converting traffic however comes from Quark Browser, Mobile Safari is actually at -0.98$ and regular Safari at -0.34$.

On classic Push you won´t receive iOS traffic because classic push is not available for iOS.
To be honest, I ran the same offer on pop and Chrome was running huge negatives so I blocked and I copied the block list over to push
If you have to block such huge elements then the campaign is mostly not worth it.
It doesn´t get you anywhere when you have to kill 95% of the traffic just to get the campaign into green, most probably the remaining volume is not worth it to continue.

I think it's less the campaign being profitable and more me making a mistake. The campaign on push was profitable from the start, but I wanted to optimize more, not realizing that I took out that much traffic!
So I removed the exclusivity for iOS and the browser limitation and I'm gonna let it run for a day or two.

What happened to the campaign?
Any update?
