Twitter opening up self serve for Amex members

Looks like twitter is opening up their self-serve ad platform for Amex members.

I'm not one yet so I can't give it a shot. I wonder how good of a platform it'll be. I'm sure it'll have it's angles just like everything else.

Also, looks like the first 10,000 people get a free $100 credit.

Signed up as well but not sure it actually gives you a ads account.

Some of the small print says you need a "Business Twitter Account" to be able to use the self serv.

Anyone got access to self selv already?

"The automated system will be similar to Google’s. Advertisers will be able to specify how much they are willing to spend, pick the cities or regions where they want their ads to appear and write their own commercial messages, which will be confined to Twitter’s 140-character limit per tweet. Twitter will only charge for ads that get a user response, such as when a viewer decides to follow the business, retweets the message or clicks on a link." - suntimes.com

Looks like they're taking the sponsored tweets model as opposed to display ads. Geo targeting isn't surprising, but being able to pay to get retweets, follows, and clicks could be a great way to get an offer to go viral.
