@lublub, here's a detailed breakdown of what you need to do to get a working tracking link for System1
1. Preparing the Link on System1
In their URL builder specify the domain, flow type and traffic source:

Add your tracker click id token in the Sub ID field, then add the Compliance Keyword. By default the URL builder will prefill the required values from Taboola in the other required fields.
Since you're passing through a tracking platform, filling the Taboola pixel id and events is going to be redundant, so in this case move forward to the tracking URL settings.

Click on the submit button to get the link generated from S1 url builder. If you see any errors related to the incorrect URL format specified above, simply ignore it for now.
This is how your generated URL should look like:
Code:
https://searchfeed.com/?ref=taboola-{site}&sub_id={clickid}&compkey=Breast%20Implants&search_track_url=search_track&click_track_url=click_track&rskey={title}
2. Adopting the URL to Work With Our Tracking System.
Now if you pay close attention to
S1 documentation regarding on URL parameters, you will understand that you will need to add the encoded version of your postback URL to your tracking fields.
So your postback URL will look from this:
Code:
https://Voluum-domain.com/postback?cid={sub_id}&et=click
To this:
Code:
https%3A%2F%2Fvoluum-domain.com%2Fpostback%3Fcid%3D%7Bsub_id%7D%26et%3Dclick
To generate the new format easily, I would suggest using this free tool to encode the URL -
https://www.url-encode-decode.com/
Important note:
Because when working with System1 you will need to prefill the ClickID before sending the visitor to the promoted link, you may need to use the plain (decoded) string for the click id.
In other words your postback URL should look like this:
Code:
https%3A%2F%2Fvoluum-domain.com%2Fpostback%3Fcid%3D{clickid}%26et%3Dclick
If you look closely you will notice that the click id token is formatted normally as {clickid}.
3. Putting it All Together
Now that you have a compliant postback URL, you will want to move forward with updating your link to its final version.
The link you generated from System1 URL builder will change from this:
Code:
https://searchfeed.com/?ref=taboola-{site}&sub_id={clickid}&compkey=Breast%20Implants&search_track_url=search_track&click_track_url=click_track&rskey={title}
To this:
Code:
https://searchfeed.com/?ref=taboola-{site}&sub_id={clickid}&compkey=Breast%20Implants&search_track_url=https%3A%2F%2Fvoluum-domain.com%2Fpostback%3Fcid%3D{clickid}%26et%3Dsearch&click_track_url=https%3A%2F%2Fvoluum-domain.com%2Fpostback%3Fcid%3D{clickid}%26et%3Dclick&rskey={title}
And finally to this:
Code:
https://searchfeed.com/?ref=taboola-{var:site}&sub_id={clickid}&compkey=Breast%20Implants&search_track_url=https%3A%2F%2Fvoluum-domain.com%2Fpostback%3Fcid%3D{clickid}%26et%3Dsearch&click_track_url=https%3A%2F%2Fvoluum-domain.com%2Fpostback%3Fcid%3D{clickid}%26et%3Dclick&rskey={var:title}&sub_id2={var:campid}|{var:site}|{var:adid}
If you pay close attention to what we have done above you will notice that, from the initial version of our Postback URL, we have replaced the
search_track and
click_track with our correctly formatted (encoded) postback URLs.
Then after updating the postback URLs, we have updated the other tracking tokens to get the correct data from our tracker.
Important note: Because we are passing through a tracking platform, it is crucial to keep present that on the offer URL we need to use tracker's internal tokens instead of using those of the traffic source. Failing to do so, will lead to having tracking issues.
4. Other Configuration Details
Since you mentioned that you are using Taboola / System1 /
Voluum / TheOptimizer it is worth noting that when working with TheOptimizer, you will have to use only one tracker connection at a time. Meaning that you can either use Voluum or System1 as a tracker in TheOptimizer. Using both of them will result in getting 2x the revenue amount since there will be revenue present in TR Revenue (from voluum) and Publisher Revenue (from S1) summed up under TR Revenue.
Even though this is a pretty simple tracking setup, it may look a bit complicated due to the various conversions and adoptions we're doing before settling the final URL.
On a positive note, we have to do this only once per traffic source, then just re-use the same template on all other traffic sources.
Last but not least, I would suggest paying close attention when uploading conversion revenue to voluum as there is no way to undo an uploaded conversion.

Thanks again, @platinum!
Since your clarification about the sub_id2, I've modified the code and this is what I have:
http://searchfeed.com/?ref=taboola-{var:site}&sub_id={clickid}&compkey=cars&search_tr ack_url=https%3A%2F%2Fvoluum-domain.com%2Fpostback%3Fcid%3D{clickid}%26et%3Dsea rch&click_track_url=https%3A%2F%2Fvoluum-domain.com%2Fpostback%3Fcid%3D{clickid}%26et%3Dcli ck&rskey={var:title}&sub_id2={var:campaign_id}|{va r:site}|{var:campaign_item_id}
In addition, I'm adding this in Taboola's tracking code:
sub_id2={campaign_id}|{site}|{campaign_item_id}
Results:
1. click and search conversion events are coming in to
Voluum. So, that's great.
2. All the clicks (I'm checking the
Voluum Live Clicks Report) arrive with only the sub_id2 format and the tblci.
For example:
voluum-domain.com/9592b987-0f2c-4002-bc31-b44e081a411a?sub_id2=19293240|thecinemaholic|34353 73439&tblci=GiBKUpq0ae3tqohad8JyvfUGHCDeuDpzal3y35 HCc66bySCx0Vko7umMt7nd9Y4l
Before adding "sub_id2={var:campaign_id}|{var:site}|{var:campaig n_item_id}" at the end of the offer URL, the Voluum Click Report URLs looked like this:
voluum-domain.com/cfd4bf75-9564-4929-af44-1648442bfba1?site=nbcuniversal-msnbc&site_id=1012083&title=Unsold+Cars+Bla+Bla+Bl a&platform=Smartphone&campaign_id=19237440&campaig n_item_id=3434485261&thumbnail=http%3A%2F%2Fcdn.ta boola.com%2Flibtrc%2Fstatic%2Fthumbnails%2F8228asd wewerwer.jpeg&sub_id2=19237440%7Cnbcuniversal-msnbc%7C3434485261&tblci=GiBIIrPD6RFvsu-zjeZpk4nCgOmwp3CkMF2NDIioAAwukiCx0VkosaqYgOu9wfEO
3. Due to the missing variables I don't have in Voluum the internal variables for the conversions, and the postbacks to Taboola are fired but with an empty click ID, so basically Taboola cannot connect them to the right click (and campaign).
Can you find something wrong in my offer URL or Taboola Tracking Code?
I already feel I owe you a lot for all the precious info so far...
Feels so close to be a perfect, but only almost...
(BTW - this is iOS traffic, but as mentioned, it already came in correctly most of the times)

^^ Your previous configuration was good.
You had to add the sub_id2 on the offer level not campaign level.
With that being said your campaign link should look like this:
Code:
https://voluum-domain.com/cfd4bf75-9564-4929-af44-1648442bfba1?site={site}&site_id={site_id}&title={title}&platform={platform}&campaign_id={campaign_id}&campaign_item_id={campaign_item_id}&thumbnail={thumbnail}&click_id={click_id}
And the offer link should look like this:
Code:
https://searchfeed.com/?ref=taboola-{var:site}&sub_id={clickid}&compkey=Breast%20Implants&search_track_url=https%3A%2F%2Fvoluum-domain.com%2Fpostback%3Fcid%3D{clickid}%26et%3Dsearch&click_track_url=https%3A%2F%2Fvoluum-domain.com%2Fpostback%3Fcid%3D{clickid}%26et%3Dclick&rskey={var:title}&sub_id2={var:campid}|{var:site}|{var:adid}
Maybe the below diagram will help you get a better idea.
